As the Director of Human Resources for AEO Distribution, you will be responsible for providing innovative HR strategies that attract and retain a highly engaged and productive workforce. You will be responsible for motivating a team of passionate HR professionals to meet and exceed all departmental goals. In order to further align current and future Distribution Centers against a common set of HR best practices, you will also have the opportunity to collaborate with others and play a key role in initiatives that span the DC network.
Your responsibilities include:
Leading and coaching teams through a wide array of topics including HR strategy to the tactical execution of the strategy; providing expertise and leaning on prior experiences and know-how to guide others to meet or exceed goals
Working with the Distribution Center Leadership Team to arrive at robust and proactive labor and workforce plans for the distribution center; this includes planning for current and future headcount needs, including anticipation of where/how the workforce will need to evolve over time (i.e., introduction of new staffing models like gig/flex, workforce of the future, upskilling, etc.)
Building innovative talent and engagement strategies that attract and drive retention within an increasingly competitive labor market; leading teams to tackle complex labor topics with energy and enthusiasm
Creating and delivering against both short-term and long-range talent roadmaps; working in close partnership with DC Operations to execute HR programs in a manner that supports the DC being fully staffed and appropriately skilled at all times
Ensuring that all internal and external hiring programs are successfully executed, in close partnership with AEO Recruiting and the DC HR team; demonstrating a continuous improvement mindset and tracking metrics to drive accountability / visibility to results
Developing and leading new hire assimilation, onboarding and retention goals; introducing new engagement strategies, measuring and tracking retention/engagement metrics to draw meaningful insights that can be translated into further actions taken by the team
Collaborating with others to support the creation of an elevated job functional training program/function, and supporting operational team development goals that drive retention as well as prepares our workforce for the future
Serving as the local HR leader for contingent labor program management; fostering strong relationships/dynamics with our key temporary labor providers; continuously assessing performance and driving improvements to gaps
Mobilizing a team of passionate HR professionals to efficiently meet and exceed established goals and milestones; appropriately aligning internal and external resources to ensure maximum effectiveness while also fostering balance
Strengthening the HR team’s agility in order to best respond to the growing demands of the ‘workforce of the future’; functional HR oversight of all HR disciplines including proactive labor relations
Serving as a thought leader within the HR Community and DC HR teams; owning and driving the accomplishment of key projects that encompass other DCs as directed
Fostering collaborative relationships with various leaders and serving as a role model leader for the organization; displaying thought leadership and alignment with the Company’s strategies and core values
Building cross-functional partnerships, leveraging insights from various areas of the business to inform HR planning, processes and growing capabilities for the HR team.
Championing the development of associates, ensuring robust succession plans are developed and in place at all levels of the function.

10+ years of experience in HR with increasing levels of responsibility
5 years of experience within a large distribution center operation or similar environment
Demonstrated ability to build relationships with associates, supervisors/managers, peers while influencing change
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Presentation and facilitation skills; comfortable in front of small and large audiences
Flexibility and adaptability; ability to analyze quantitative and qualitative data
Strong project and time management skills
High professional standards; can be trusted to maintain confidentiality; is positive and constantly improving skill set
Intermediate to Advanced Microsoft Office Skills
Must be able to travel as required
Minimum educational level: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, Master’s degree preferred
A desire to grow into increased levels of leadership and responsibility is preferred.
