Coordinate a comprehensive system-wide Infection Prevention Program including goals, action plan, performance improvement strategies, and evaluation of annual surveillance strategy and program, policies and procedures.
IP measurement – Develops, maintains, and when necessary improves department balanced scorecard. Monitors, evaluates results, and supervised development of corrective action plans if indicated.
Regulatory Compliance- Ensure compliance with guidelines and /or standards as outlined by OSHA, CDC, JC, NJDHSS, SHEA, HHS, NQF, and CMS to optimize patient care and provide a safe environment for physicians, staff, patients and visitors.
Over sees development and implementation of education, in-servicing, etc. for all AHS staff, including applicable medical staff.
Ensures Department Staff competence including on-going assessment of medical center IP Managers
Supervises preparation of annual department budgets and audits them monthly to ensure that they stay in budget.
Consults with management, physicians and other healthcare professionals regarding infection prevention issues.
Stays abreast of most recent strategies and innovations in Infection Prevention and assesses their use for AHS. Develops innovative internal strategies to prevent healthcare associated infections.
Bachelor’s degree in nursing, business or health related field. Master’s degree preferred.
Registered Nurse licensure
3-5 years infection prevention experience with previous management experience.
Certification in Infection Control (CIC)
