Protecting Dropbox and our users is at the core of our business and is critical to being worthy of trust. We’re looking for a Director of Privacy to build and scale our global Privacy Program at Dropbox. In this role, you’ll lead a team of specialists who partner with stakeholders across the business to ensure Dropbox meets our privacy and data protection obligations. You’ll work closely with counterparts in Product Engineering, IT, Security, Product & Privacy Counsel, and Customer Experience to help us manage and maintain the privacy of our users’ data. You will develop and execute programs that focus on the privacy issues most important to Dropbox, Dropboxers, and our users.


Grow a team of high performing legal/privacy professionals and champion their growth and path at Dropbox

Influence change across Dropbox to ensure that our products and services comply with current and emerging privacy legislation

Monitor and analyze privacy issues of importance to Dropbox and provide strategic advice to senior company executives on these matters

Build out scaled training and education programs for Dropboxers globally to enable us to collectively achieve our privacy and security goals

Create and scale processes for vendors and suppliers to be assessed against our privacy controls

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to operate, validate, and remediate privacy oversight controls, such as data flow mappings and Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs)

Partner with engineering to map privacy requirements onto engineering reality and embed our privacy program into their workflow

Track internal controls and promote privacy guidelines and policies for customer, employee, partner, and vendor personal information

Support Dropbox’s response to regulatory audits, investigations, or inquiries


10+ years of experience in executive leadership in a privacy, security, or audit role.

4+ years of experience directly in a privacy or data protection-related role

Experience with and positive track record of people management and team growth.

Thorough working knowledge of global privacy regulations, standards, and frameworks

A high degree of comfort interacting and collaborating with both lawyers and engineers

Understanding and willingness to learn about diverse business functions

Passion for technology and desire to tackle complex problems with creative solutions

Great interpersonal skills with a focus on influencing and leadership in a global company
