You are a match-making maven and recruitment extraordinaire who is inspired by connecting amazing people to high impact roles to transform the lives of marginalized youth in the US. Reporting to our Co-Founder and Chief Program Officer, you will establish and lead a strategic process to recruit, place, and support a diverse cohort of talented business and social sector leaders to meet our ambitious goal of 100 new child welfare leaders in the next three years. Working together with the Director of Partnership Development, you will apply knowledge, experience, and creativity to match fellows with host agencies in existing and new jurisdictions. You will be detail- and process-oriented, as well as highly relational with skills for identifying individuals’ strengths and areas for growth. The Director of Recruitment will be able to think outside the box to recognize the critical skills and competencies from other sectors that can lead to innovation in the child welfare system. Key Responsibilities of the Director of Recruitment include:

Develop a recruitment strategy and identify the channels to source and cultivate a diverse pool of candidates interested in bringing their human-centered design, data analysis, technology, finance, project management, and strategy skills to the foster care space;

Ensure the development and optimization of a broad range of sourcing channels and strategic partnerships that will improve the quantity and quality of the candidate talent pools;

Lead outreach efforts with potential candidates, nominators, and partners to cultivate quality pools of candidates for the fellowship;

Communicate with candidates, ensuring a high–quality and seamless candidate experience throughout the full recruitment and on-boarding cycle;

Screen and interview candidates to advance the most promising individuals to government agencies for final round interviews;

Enhance and manage the existing Salesforce system to support the sourcing, recruitment and selection processes.

Develop performance measures to monitor the effectiveness of the current sourcing, selection and onboarding processes using quantitative and qualitative assessments; track and identify trends, and implement relevant improvements based on this analysis.

Collaborate with the Director of Partnership Development to ensure that Fellow recruitment matches the reform needs of our child welfare agency partners.


In order to fulfill these responsibilities, the ideal Director of Recruitment candidate will be:

Demonstrably committed to advancing equality and social justice and improving outcomes for vulnerable children and families;

A professional with at least 5 years of work experience, including experience in a recruiting function in the social sector, private sector, or within an executive search firm;

A people person who is relationship-driven, energized by connecting with others, and who possesses superior interpersonal skills;

Detail-oriented, organized, and able to balance strong project management skills with the ability to see big picture trends and recommend process improvements when needed.

An excellent communicator, able to build and maintain strong relationships with colleagues, candidates, and partners.

Culturally-competent and self-reflective, someone who maintains a strong growth mindset and desire to learn and grow as a professional.

Flexible and nimble; comfortable working in an entrepreneurial environment with high accountability and low-to-moderate supervision.
