POSITION SUMMARY:


Reporting to the Chief Development Officer, Director of Special Projects role is to provide direct support to the CDO. Role includes but not limited providing support and project management to development team, and communication leadership of the development strategy. Approximately 60% of the person’s time is internally focused on managing the development office, providing project management and oversight for development team and supporting the internal partnership of the development team with other YMCA of Greater Boston departments and branches. The balance of the person’s time is focused on working with the CDO to manage key-stakeholder relationships, including board committees, community partners, corporate partnerships, and special projects.  


ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES/PRINCIPLE ACTIVITIES:


Responsibilities:


Manage day-to-day operations of Development office

Provide strong project management and direction for the advancement team.

Ensure effective, useful, and thoughtful enhancements of systems, analytics, processes, and measurements to monitor, project, and guide engagement activities and fundraising results

Support the planning and execution of the Annual Spark Party

Support the Implementation of ongoing best practice training and culture among development staff.

Collaborate with the CEO and CDO to ensure the YMCA of Greater Boston is well represented at key external events, and attend key external events.

Assist the CDO in board engagement and committee management.

Management of Volunteer programs and interns.

Work with CDO to attain revenue goals across the organization.

Work with development team to support the branch leadership and manage the communications and collateral for special events organized by the Development Department including branch signature events.

In partnership with the CDO, facilitate the process of content creation for Annual Campaign Materials association-wide.

Assist with the coordination of association special events determined by the Development and Marketing Department.

Support, lead and direct special projects as needed.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:


Bachelor’s degree and a minimum 5 years demonstrated executive level support experience. A Master’s Degree preferred.

Basic knowledge of print production process and the ability to obtain quotes, build and manage timelines.

Excellent writing, content development, editing and proofreading skills.

Excellent understanding of corporate donor relations and stewardship.

Familiar with process for creating original social media content to support strategy.

Proactive, positive and collaborative.

Flexibility to work early morning, nights, and weekends for events.

Self-motivation and discipline to regularly set and achieve work goals.

Excellent organizational, interpersonal and networking skills with large groups as well as with individuals are essential.

Ability to maintain a high level of poise and professionalism in all circumstances.

Demonstrated ability to take primary responsibility for diverse number of projects and to complete them in a timely manner with limited supervision.
