The Director, Payroll is responsible for providing strategic payroll and timekeeping management and support to facilitate Cox Automotive’s overall business goals.This includes, but is not limited to, leading the Payroll Team in setting and executing strategic objectives in line with company goals, working with the Payroll Administrators to ensure consistent policies are in place and followed, ensuring department staffing levels are adequate and productivity is optimized, troubleshooting high-level issues as they arise, defining and leading special projects, teaming with Benefits and HR Technology to determine common goals and to lead the teams in working together to assist achievement of individual team goals. The Director will maintain strict confidentiality of payroll and company proprietary information.Additional responsibilities include the following:
Oversees the daily activities of the payroll shared services team engaged in payroll processing.Sets department goals and assures successful achievement of such goals.
Partners with compensation leadership to set and oversee timekeeping philosophy and strategy.
Build and develop Payroll team with an integrated vision to enable our employees to support secure, accurate and compliant payroll service offerings for 30,000+ employees in US
Partner and align with key stakeholders across the entire employee lifecycle process, including Finance, Employment Tax, Employment Law, Compensation, HRBPs, and Compliance
Accelerate scale through automation and the introduction of advanced payroll technologies, continuous monitoring and quality assurance. Evaluate the current payroll footprint to cultivate the required roadmap that delivers process standardization, automation, and overall process excellence
Develop strong client and stakeholder relationships, implement effective communication programs and transform our payroll support model.Oversee continuous evaluation of our payroll partners, develop talent and advance technology investments
Active leadership on finance strategic initiatives and change management in support of corporate growth and optimization, including new locations, mergers/acquisitions, and additional services as required
Ensures the Team is consistently maintaining excellent customer service with team members and external parties.
BS/BA degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related discipline with advanced degree preferred
10+ years of relevant experience with at least 5 years’ experience in a leadership role
Comprehensive knowledge of Peoplesoft payroll systems and Kronos time and attendance systems .Experience with Oracle and other best-in-class pay, time and finance systems providers will be considered.
Transformation, process re-engineering and experience working in a shared service and/or matrixed environment is a strong plus.
HR knowledge, and experience working in a distributed workforce environment with hourly and union product employees is highly valued.
CPP designation preferred or advanced knowledge of tax requirements, payroll rules and regulations.
Advanced knowledge of Tax and Labor rules and regulations.
Ability to lead team and resolve issues. Engage in creative problem solving, identify areas for improvement and communicate these ideas to the Team and execute.
Strong work ethic, results driven and commitment to meeting deadlines and achieving company and department goals.
Ability to successfully accomplish all responsibilities in a fast paced, growing and demanding environment.
Experience operating and scaling employee services transformation, shared services, project management, and systems implementation
Outstanding communication skills, both verbal and written
Ability to lead and influence partners and internal clients at all levels within the organization
