The Director of Pricing & Contracting Strategy will manage the design, development and implementation of portfolio, franchise, and product-specific pricing and contracting strategies for Jazz Pharmaceutical products. This role requires a deep understanding of traditional and innovative approaches to pricing, contracting and reimbursement of pharmaceutical products.
This role requires advanced data management and analytics skills germane to the pharmaceutical and biopharma pricing, contracting and reimbursement environment in the US. The leader in this role will demonstrate executive-level experience managing pricing and contracting dynamics, outstanding problem solving skills, and a strong aptitude for hypothesis-driven analytics.
This role will require a seasoned pharmaceutical industry veteran with deep expertise in competitive market dynamics for Biotech, Orphan and traditional retail products. It will require a leader that is accomplished in data-driven forecasting and evaluation of pricing/contracting strategies subject to current and future health care reimbursement practices/regulatory constraints.
The role must demonstrate a leadership approach that is evidence-based and employs pragmatic and collaborative problem solving skills. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
In concert with allied Pricing & Contracting functions, leads the development of pricing and contracting strategies for inline and pipeline Jazz products to support brand planning and forecasting
Engages internal and external stakeholders to define optimal pricing and contracting strategies subject to understanding the current and forecasted reimbursement environment
Develop and implement contracting strategies for in-line products and new product launches. Inform brand pricing by synthesizing customer, industry and competitive insights to guide in developing channel and franchise pricing strategies.
Effectively work with all key stakeholders to drive alignment on pricing strategies and consensus on impact to the business.
Advise and collaborate with Market Access management and other internal strategic partners on recommended brand pricing, channel pricing, and contracting strategies.
As needed, contribute to the development of pricing and contracting strategies for life cycle management and assets being evaluated for acquisition
Provide strategic analysis on the relative attractiveness/value of candidates for acquisition and life cycle management based on pricing and contracting assessment.
Design and implement performance measurement analytics for pricing strategies and contract performance management. Develop and implement performance metrics to support optimal pull-through of managed care contracts
Coordinate cross-functional project teams providing reimbursement input to critical decisions/deliverables supporting US price and reimbursement objectives for pre-launch and post-launch products.
BS/BA required along with 10+ years of related experience in the pharmaceutical and/or biopharmaceuticals industry (i.e., including specialty drug classes),
MBA degree preferred
Prior leadership roles in pricing, contracting and reimbursement strategy and forecasting development including brand planning and market share forecast development
In-depth knowledge of health care pricing, contracting and reimbursement practices and regulatory requirements.
Advanced knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, VA, DoD, 340B and Commercial programs and payer policies. Knowledge of Government price calculations and compliance regulations a plus.
Strong problem solving skills, including the knowledge of source data, with the ability to research complex issues and perform qualitative and quantitative analyses
Ability to work in a deadline-driven and fast-paced environment including managing multiple projects with on time and budget completion
Strong analytical and business skills; with the ability to communicate effectively with senior management
Demonstrated ability to process complex information and summarize it concisely in writing and/or verbally in a professional manner
Strong leadership skills to work across functions with the ability to inspire and motivate teams to gain consensus and drive results
