Job Summary(Primary function)
The Director, Procurement is responsible for leading and managing Incyte’s procurement activities within the Clinical Trials space as well as other R&D spend, developing a broad service strategy to ensure effective supplier selection and management, risk mitigation, cost effective sourcing, contract negotiations and compliance to corporate policies. This position will be responsible for the development and implementation of Incyte’s sourcing strategy for Clinical spend. It requires working closely with multiple internal and external partners to facilitate and optimize the operational procurement process with a keen focus on customer service for the entire organization.
Collaborate, develop and maintain critical relationships with various cross-functional R&D Teams to provide Strategic Sourcing expertise for CRO’s, labs, data management, Lab supplies, R&D Informatics etc.
Assess spend and proactive development of actions to identify cost reductions, improve supplier performance and business segment compliance with/use of preferred suppliers as it relates to clinical trials.
Actively participate in contract and pricing negotiation for all R&D spend. Negotiates pricing discounts and contracts on operational spend and strategic initiatives
Work closely with FP&A to support annual and lifetime financial budgets and forecasts
Proactively engage business leaders and develop a professional rapport to drive improved collaboration and cooperation with the procurement function
Drive customer satisfaction through proactive, efficient procurement operations and strong internal collaboration with stakeholders
Ensure contracts and procurement policies, procedures and practices are aligned with applicable regulations, business objectives and industry best practices
Identification and implementation of appropriate performance metrics; development of monthly performance dashboards highlighting achievements, performance gaps and improvement opportunities.
Continually evaluate services offered by existing and prospective vendors
Support the supplier/contractor on-boarding process including review of requisite paperwork, experience, legal and organizational structure, financial viability, geographic coverage, insurance requirements and other capabilities
Manage direct reports as required, with a focus on personnel development
Bachelors in life sciences or business major required, Masters preferred
10+ years of experience in procurement and sourcing or closely related
Knowledge and experience of current purchasing best practice
Proven track record of delivering tangible results in a global complex/decentralizing environment
Prior experience mentoring, developing, and managing teams
Extensive experience in working with cross functional teams and multiple projects simultaneously
Experience in Pharmaceutical / Biotech environment required.
Certification in Procurement preferred (i.e. CPM, CPP, SPSM, CIPS)
