The Director of Product Planning is responsible for defining the “vision of the future” for Videojet marking and coding products and integrating product strategy with the overall Videojet corporate strategy.This person will act as the bridge between his/her team of Product Planners and Videojet service, commercial, and regional strategies.The Director will participate in strategic planning, resource planning, and 5 year product roadmaps across technologies, facilitating tradeoffs with technology and customer needs.


Lead the creation of 5 year product roadmaps across all coding and marking technologies that align with the corporate strategy and balance risk for the business

Perform deep market and competitive analysis including future scenario building to anticipate changes in the industry over the next 5 years

Communicate strategy and gain buy-in from the President and Vice Presidents at quarterly Strategic Innovation Review meetings

Leverages team to identify unmet customer needs and desired outcomes through extensive qualitative and quantitative customer/market research, building new business cases around these opportunities, and incorporating those opportunities into the roadmap

Works closely with CTO, VP R&D, and engineering teams to define new product innovations, technology success criteria, roadmaps, and business opportunities

Drives business partnerships with external providers of product innovations.Assists in evaluation of third party or open innovation partners in order to assure high-margin business models

Key financial measurement – Incremental Revenue from New Product Development to achieve company’s 5 year forecasted growth targets

In addition to the product roadmaps, the director will also be expected to contribute to and lead select Videojet strategic initiatives

To be successful in this role, the candidate must:

Foster internal relationships in order to secure continual support of the company’s global resources

Tell the customers’ stories and strategic implications to the Senior Leadership Team to drive Videojet product and corporate strategy and resourcing decisions

Utilize market data to develop proactive strategies to maintain company competitiveness and drive breakthrough innovation in the company

Embrace Danaher/Videojet stretch mentality – lead execution of strategic initiatives to achieve breakthrough results and annual, quarterly, and monthly targets

Utilize daily and visual management to align product development efforts with Videojet growth targets

Build, develop, and engage a strong team (4 direct reports) to ensure achievement of above market results as well as providing succession and supporting the building of talent funnels

Strong analytical and statistical analysis skills to test and support (or refute) business strategies

Education - MBA preferred

Work experience - 10+ years in industrial product management, product planning, new product development, and/or corporate strategy/consulting. Industrial equipment experience is required; packaging industry experience is desirable.

Special qualifications - Extensive experience in conducting qualitative and quantitative VOC, identifying needs for technical products in a B2B market

Level of travel required. Moderate (25-40%) across the globe
