The DPG Director of Program Manager is responsible for the management of the portfolio of programs and projects related to one or more platforms. This role will partner with technical product management, engineering, and the business to provide leadership in implementing the program strategy for a portfolio.The Director must be able to work effectively across technicians and business leaders to build strong bridges and trust.This position will not only focus on the planning, communication and coordination of the portfolio but also beyond the end date of the individual projects to the transitional and operational elements.This role is accountable to sponsors for schedule, budget, and quality of a portfolio and requires a strong customer focus.In addition, this position will manage a team of program and project managers.#LI-LL1
Your contribution to the team includes:
·Ultimately responsible for delivery by driving roadmap commitments to completion on time, on budget, and on quality.Chief promise keeper for the portfolio keeping an end to end perspective across all teams.
·Provide leadership in implementing the portfolio strategy by working as a member of the triad with the DPG teams and business units.
·Act as a team player who must have a good communication style yet be relentless about product delivery on time, on budget with superb quality and find creative solutions to technology, product and organizational challenges.
·Work with the DPG teams and business units to ensure dependencies between feature development and content development are well understood, scheduled and on track.Lead teams in identifying, tracking and mitigating delivery risk.
·Ensures projects within the program portfolio do not start without proper initiation according to the DPG SDLC including roadmap prioritization, documented scope, and dependency identification.
·Champion agile methodologies throughout the development process and adherence to the DPG SDLC including continuous improvement initiatives across the PMO to simplify and standardize.
·Own and manage communication plan across portfolio by ensuring proper coordination between all teams and proactively remove impediments to ensure successful delivery of team commitments.Owns and drives issue resolution and risk mitigation.
What?you’ll need to be successful:
·Bachelor's degree in Business, Information Technology, Computer Science or related field required.Master’s Degree preferred.
·In depth knowledge of software development, ideally in Ed Tech.
·Deep knowledge of project management demonstrated by 10+ years Project, Program and Portfolio Management experience.Exposure to an Agile project management environment and Scrum Master experience required.
·Deep knowledge of Agile project management demonstrated by 3-5 years in a scrum environment.
·Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
·Certified Scrum Master (CSM) certification.
·Experience working with external software vendors, including offshore vendors, and in utilizing both traditional and rapid/lightweight project management.
·Demonstrated skills in leadership, negotiation, conflict management, communications, organizational and critical thinking.
·Ability to travel up to 50%.Most travel will be west coast based.
