The position of Director of Security, Safety and Parking has direct responsibility for the leadership of the Security Department (49 EEs) and the Environmental Health and Safety Department (6 EEs).The incumbent will play a part in driving the organization to ensure we provide the safest possible physical environment for our patients, visitors, physicians and staff.
The Director of Security, Safety and Parking is responsible for the planning, coordination and direction of operations and management of Security, Parking and Environmental Health and Safety and Emergency Management. The Director is responsible for oversight of all elements of The Joint Commission Environment of Care Program
The Director oversees compliance with regulatory requirements for the Occupational Safety and Health Act and Environmental Protection Agency etc.The scope of these responsibilities includes the three UVMMC main campuses and all satellite campuses
The Director stays current with best practices and industry trends. The Director supports professional growth in staff and leaders through coaching, identification of development opportunities and performance based feedback.
The ideal candidate will have proven leadership growth in healthcare security and environmental health and safety or experience in related fields.Large scale hospital or multi-site experience and the ability to work in a complex, matrixed organizational structure, developing strong relationships with all levels of management is necessary.Practical experience leading and delivering Joint Commission regulatory compliance programs is highly desirable.
Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice or related field. Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice or related field. Certification in Healthcare Protection Administration (CHPA) or Protection Professional (CPP) required.
Must possess a valid driver’s license with a safe driving record.
Demonstrated leadership skills and progressive career advancement in Security Management and/or Management the Environment of Care.
The Director demonstrates effective management skills and knowledge of healthcare specific (Joint commission, CMS, OSHA, VOSHA) regulatory requirements. Shall have excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as effective employee relations and interpersonal skills.He/she shall have the ability to prioritize multiple tasks, communicate and listen effectively with frequent interruptions, while maintaining and developing a customer service focus at all times
