The Senior Privacy Counsel is the first dedicated privacy role at HBC. Under the supervision of the Deputy GC, the Senior Privacy Counsel will provide the Company with legal guidance on enterprise privacy and data security practices and policies. In collaboration with Marketing, Tech, Information Security, and other cross-functional teams, the Senior Privacy Counsel will be entrusted to provide day-to-day counsel as well as recommendations on policies/compliance protocols to protect HBC, its customers, its employees, and other third party partners.

Ability to make reasoned decisions/recommendations and provide sound legal advice while considering the needs of the business
You Also Have:
JD required. Member in good standing of the bar. Practicing lawyer with 6-8 years of experience; with requisite minimum of 4 years at a reputable law firm providing legal counseling primarily on privacy matters. In-house experience is a plus but not required
Extensive data privacy knowledge and experience is essential; an interest in retail or experience within a B2C environment is desirable. CIPP/CIPM/CIPT certification (or equivalent) is also desirable
As The Director, Senior Privacy Counsel, You Will:
Advise on global (primarily North American) privacy requirements and compliance with emerging privacy and data security laws, including GDPR and CCPA
Draft and negotiate relevant data processing or other 3 rd party data transfer or protection agreements
Periodically evaluate and update business unit privacy policies
Develop global privacy training programs that are tailored for audience (stores, corporate) and geography
Identify and manage risks in a way that aligns to customer focus as well as business growth
Actively monitor and advise on local and global developments in privacy and data security
Drive awareness and accountability throughout the organization toward greater internal and external transparency consistent with goals of business
