Azusa Engineering has an opening for the Director of System Engineering.This position is a D1 functional management position responsible for 200 system engineers supporting the Military and Civil Space (MCS) business unit which is part of the Space Systems Division of Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems.This position is a “manager of managers” position, and reports to the Director of Engineering and Manufacturing in Azusa.This position is responsible for system engineering execution to support program performance and system engineering process excellence to all Azusa programs which include Next Generation GEO, Space Based Infrared System (SBIRS), Defense Support Program (DSP), Joint Polar Satellite System (JPSS), and other mission processing software programs associated with these various programs. 


The selected individual will be responsible for system engineering organizational leadership and will lead system engineering employee development and employee growth.As the functional director, this position is responsible for staffing fulfillment to programs including hiring and performance management.This individual will also have responsibility for ensuring the technical integrity of all system engineering data products and that the delivery of technical products to the programs is performed in accordance with system engineering processes, command media, and leadership media. 


This position requires strong experience in all phases of system engineering from development through verification with specific application to space systems.This includes systems engineering experience in sensor/payload/electro-optic space-based hardware, mission processing algorithms, ground processing software, and models and simulation environments.This individual will have experience with deployment of system engineering practices including model based engineering, requirements analysis and decomposition, and verification.Strong experience in deployment and implementation of system engineering tools and models and simulation environments is required.The selected candidate should have demonstrated experience with model based engineering and model based design tools, and other system engineering tools such as Rhapsody, DOORS, Matlab/Simulink, and have experience in deployment and implementation of these tools throughout a large organization.


Strong emphasis in strategic planning and program execution. This includes strong experience in development of proposals and proposal reviews to ensure effective program execution against bids that are submitted.Position requires the ability to build strong organizational relationships across functional disciplines such as hardware, software, and test engineering, and across matrix reporting relationships to the various program managers and program offices.The selected individual will have had experience in first line functional management and demonstrated experience in conduct of personnel performance management and performance evaluation processes and merit and compensation processes. 


Position requires Secret clearance with ability to obtain and retain an SSBI. 


Qualifications 

Basic Qualifications: 


Bachelor's of Science in Engineering or related STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) field and 15 years of professional experience OR a PHD and 10 years of professional experience.

8 years of technical management experience

Active DoD Secret Clearance must be held and maintained. U.S. Citizenship is required.

Ability to obtain and maintain SCI program access is required. 

Preferred Qualifications: 


MS Engineering or related STEM field

25 years of professional experience

10 years of technical management experience

Active SCI program access
