Role Summary

Looking for an exciting and challenging opportunity that enables your professional expertise and leadership in bringing the eco-system of strategic priorities, execution and change management to realization.  We are looking for a Director of Technology with a focus on Change Management. The Director will  drive end-to-end delivery and seamless execution across Atlanta and six regions in Engineering. 

The person is accountable to lead a team and work closely with the Engineering Senior Leadership, plus have the autonomy to develop the strategy, roadmaps, execution and use the appropriate change management levers and data driven insights.  

The Director is responsible for partnering with appropriate peers and teams to enable an integrated change management concept, content development and plans for driving engagement and achievement of Engineering key strategic priorities. This role partners with applicable stakeholders to ensure the company-wide narrative is integrated into all change communication channels for Engineering.  

The Director of Technology works closely with the Executive Director of Engineering Enablement on an integrated change management strategy to ensure that employees understand the key strategic priorities in Engineering and how they contribute to our success.  This role counsels’ senior executive leaders to compliment the broader goals within the department.  This role reports to the Executive Director, Engineering Enablement and is part of the Engineering Enablement team.

Primary Responsibilities and Essential Functions

• Effective Change Communication with Linkage from Engineering Strategy to Execution

• Expectations/Business Process Outcomes:

• Link strategy to business process execution and ensure the appropriate level of change management is effectively communicated to Engineering employees and how changes within and outside the organization impact their day-to-day operation within their role.

• Integrate strategy to ensure Engineering employees’ knowledge and understanding of the key strategic priorities in Engineering and understand how they contribute to the success of our operating model. 

• Partner with applicable leaders for the development of appropriate knowledge management for success in Engineering roles and functions across Atlanta and the 6 regions.

• Lead a team and work closely with the Engineering Senior Leadership, to develop the strategy, roadmap, execution and use of the appropriate change management levers to foster business process awareness, desire, knowledge, ability, and reinforcement (ADKAR) with data driven insights.   

• Develop the team to ensure the appropriate execution of messages that are linked and tied to the goals and objectives across all domains and regions of Engineering.  

Data-driven approach to Engineering Change Management Expectations/Business Process Outcomes:

• Provide best in class data driven insights to the Engineering leadership team with appropriate controls to impact business process continuous improvement.

• Identify and understand change saturation by Engineering employee roles and domains.

• Advisor for Senior Leadership’s Engineering Campaigns/Presentations/Support and enterprise-wide priorities and initiatives. Alignment to changes impacting Engineering Employees

• Expectations/Business Process Outcomes:

• Support the senior executive leadership with meeting presentations and internal speaking opportunities such as all hands, town halls, site visits, videos, emails, and intranet communications. 

• Collaborate with appropriate change management boundary partners, peers, and other divisions for enterprise change communications initiatives as the Engineering representative.  

• Advise senior executive leadership on change communications priorities, channels, and frequency for company- and enterprise-wide priorities and initiatives, including investments in people programs impacting the targeted audience and teams who support enterprise-wide functions and initiatives. 

Best in Class Functional & Industry Knowledge Impacting the People side of change in Engineering and designed for Engineers Expectations/Business Process Outcomes:

• Stay abreast of the change management industry; remain well-informed and knowledgeable about the current trends, methods, best practices, and advances in innovative technologies and tools to drive cycle of improvement and positively impact the people side of change. 

• Advise functions and support staff on change management best practices to align with our purpose, our values, and our brand. 

• Direct, manage, and support the launch of new Engineering focused change management communications, initiatives, tools, and programs.  

• Maintain and improve existing programs with the appropriate cycle of improvements. 

• Promote and expand the level of influence for Engineering change management communications with a holistic approach and seamless execution across Engineering and our boundary partners when applicable.

Manages Engineering’s Contractor Budgets that support change management, production support for all employee events. Expectations/Business Process Outcomes:

• Develop and manage change management communication budgets, contractor relationships, contract labor as necessary and ensure projects are on time and on budget, wisely using the company’s money for all change management events.

• Develop the team to ensure the appropriate execution of messages that are linked and tied to the goals and objectives across all domains of Engineering.  

• Utilize existing data insights to lead the appropriate campaigns, training, and education with the contractor(s) support.   

• Responsible for communicating company goals and objectives and driving alignment to the Engineering strategic priorities, goals, and objectives.


• 10 or more years of experience required in communications and/or change management or related field

• Experience working with all levels of the organization, particularly senior-level executives in consultative communications strategy and planning with a focus on employee communications

• Strong writing and editing skills, ability to adapt communication to different target audiences

• Excellent interpersonal, leadership, presentation, and collaborative skills to work effectively with leadership and teams across the organization to build high performing relationships

• Requires high level of discretion and confidentiality; ability to deal with ambiguity and influence without direct authority

• Experience in strategy, planning and delivery of internal change management communication campaigns and management 

• Strong ability to execute and manage projects and details

• Demonstrate strong awareness of business and organization sensitivity and adapt change communication accordingly

• Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and exhibit professionalism under pressure with the appropriate level of emotional intelligence

• Strong-problem solving skills, team-oriented with interest in learning and using new technologies and approaches

• Excellent proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint


• BS/BA degree in organizational development, journalism or communications related discipline strongly desired, MBA preferred

• 10 or more years of experience in a management role or leading cross functional projects or external vendor/agencies preferred

• Experience in Engineering, telecommunications industry desired

• Experience in technology, social media, event management/production experience preferred

• Willing to roll up sleeves and get work done, even if perceived to be outside the scope of the job

• Ability to thrive in a changing environment and prioritization of what’s most critical in current operating conditions

• Awareness, knowledge and understanding of the ADKAR model

• Program and project management knowledge and understanding
