Responsible for all aspects of client, people and thought leadership of the regional local market employee benefits operation.Manage multiple client teams and overall book of business. Sets strategic direction for the practice while driving high quality, impactful, relevant and innovative client deliverables. Strong focus on growth of business and talent.

Develops and drives local market business plan. Maintains clear understanding of the business climate, macro and micro dynamics of business landscape; uses understanding to oversee and drive results in all relevant aspects of the local market operation.

Leads clients, projects and teams; identifies and secures resources. Manages client and stakeholder expectations, delivers value.

Provide strategic planning and consulting advice to clients including overseeing efforts in the production of Requests for Proposal, coordination of vendor responses, analysis and comparison of RFP responses, and preparation of a client report with recommendations.

Understands and applies industry trends, product development, and government regulations.

Measures and ensures client satisfaction across the practice

Supports the sales process, working closely with Lockton Producers and Associates in discussing employee benefits services and solutions with clients and prospects.

Ambassador for Lockton within the local market. Develops and maintains dependable working partner relationships with carriers, broker servicing networks, and other providers.

Oversees and manages local market P&L

Build and lead successful, cross functional teams across multiple geographies; holds self and team accountable for performance, timelines and deliverables.Fosters collaboration and diversity of thought. Drives professional development efforts for staff.Completes performance evaluations.


Bachelor’s degree in business related field and or years of experience equivalent

10 or more years of employee benefits experience required

Advanced working knowledge of group benefits, services, programs and elements of marketing lines of coverage. Understands how benefits fits into broader total rewards, human capital and other business units.

Demonstrated ability to successfully manage large staff

Demonstrated ability to successfully grow and maintain a $10mm+ book of business

Demonstrated ability to work and collaborate across Series and Enterprise effectively

Ability to adapt and drive effective results in a variety of situations and with multiple diverse stakeholders

Proven track record of driving results within multiple disciplines:innovation, client satisfaction, Associate recruitment and retention, specialty practices, new business acquisition, etc. 

Understanding of underwriter practices and the ability to recreate these practices for use during plan pricing, renewal negotiations, and Associate training

Advanced working knowledge of differing financial arrangements and products available to clients. Ability to perform/analyze renewal projections for fully insured and self-funded clients

Firm understanding of concepts, issues, and overall impact of market pricing

Advanced working knowledge of federal and state legislation and legal issues related to the insurance industry

Strong personal presence to interface with top management of other businesses, representing Lockton in the highest profession and ethical manner

Demonstrates professional, tactful negotiation and persuasion skills to achieve objectives

Extensive experience in evaluating client needs for employee benefit program offerings

Strong analytical, problem-solving and strategic planning skills

Exemplary presentation skills, including preparation and execution

Proven ability to organize and manage time to meet deadlines

Strong ability to delegate as appropriate. Demonstrates understanding of when to proceed alone and when to involve key stakeholders or others

Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft products (Word, Excel, Outlook) or similar software applications

Ability to attend company, department, and team meetings as required, including industry training sessions

Ability and willingness to travel as necessary to visit Lockton clients and prospective clients.
