BAE Systems is looking for an experienced engineer to work- Engineering Support in Production (ESIP) in York, PA. This position supports the PIM Program and is responsible for leading, coordinating, and managing engineering support activities for production.. This position must interact effectively with the program design engineering team, supply chain, quality, manufacturing engineering and DCMA in the process of resolving issues.. Proven experience working with manufacturing, quality, supply chain is crucial to this role. Must demonstrate the ability to work and interact witht eh customer on a regular basis.The performance of this role includes, but is not limited to, the following responsibilities:
Provide leadership and coordination of the ESIP team activities and Integrated Product Team (IPT) design engineers to solve production issues in production, supply chain, and quality team in a timely manner. This involves performing a root cause and impact analysis when issues arise to determine the optimal solution given cost, schedule and priority constraints while factoring in feedback from all key stakeholders.
Coordinate change management by working closely with design IPT, catching design intend while solving producibility, quality, or supply chain issues, more importantly, document and release changes in accordance with PIM change release process.
Be cognizant of production issues and attend PIM Production meetings with 80%+ attendance and assign other personnel from the ESIP team to attend in your absence
Proactively support production issues on off Fridays and weekends if needed. Responsible for engineering support to production before and after sales of vehicles
Analyze and create problem reports as necessary, coordinate work with other engineers in the ESSIP team supporting structure issues.
Typical Education & Experience
Typically a Bachelor's Degree and 6 years work experience or equivalent experience
Required Skills and Education
Bachelor's Degree in an engineering discipline or equivalent experience in a manufacturing environment. "Equivalent experience" includes experience managing the interface and serving as liaison between engineering entities and development teams. The selected individual will be a self-starter, highly motivated, and will be expected to proactively pursue production Variances and engineering issues that impact manufacturing, product delivery and overall vehicle sales. Superior communications skills are absolutely essential in this role as the selected candidate will be required to brief all levels of internal (Program Management, Engineering Management, Quality and Supply Chain) and external (United States Government) customers. The selected individual shall also have the ability to multitask as he/she will be required to control, coordinate, and resolve conflicts for several high-visibility lines of effort, simultaneously. The candidate needs to acknowledge that this position requires flexibility and perpetual attention - and is not a "seven thirty to five" position, as it requires immediate action and issue-resolution upon the identification of any problems or circumstances that require Engineering's support to Production. Ability to effectively lead and manage a distributed team is essential.
Preferred Skills and Education
Should have a working knowledge of York Supply Chain, Manufacturing and DCMA groups and processes. The candidate should have an extensive working knowledge of BAE Systems Combat vehicles. The candidate must have former experience supporting a vehicle build. Proficient in Creo CAD software and the ability to travel and work overtime if needed is a plus.
