Job Summary:

Work collaboratively with the President of PSA to identify and achieve the objectives of a single integrated multidisciplinary group practice for all employed physicians.Leads the daily operations and work closely with the Senior Leadership Team (SLT), PSA Board of Directors, physician leaders, directors, and department managers to maximize the efficiency and profitability of the practices.Responsible for the overall quality, service, and financial and operational performance of the physician enterprise. Oversees the general supervision, direction, and control of the administrative and financial activities. Accountable for the development of systems and processes to enhance and provide an optimal experience for patients at NCHS.Works collaboratively with other members of the health system senior leadership team to provide coordination across the continuum of care.Provides leadership through activities at the strategic and operational level that facilitate interdisciplinary support and program development for all physician practices within the organization.Ensures awareness of national and local physician practice trends, policies, and issues affecting the physician enterprise.

 

Minimum Job Requirements:

Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration or other advanced degree  

7-10 years of physician practice management experience required.

Previous experience managing a multispecialty group practice of 75 or more physicians required

Essential Job Duties


Formulates recommendations and manages the implementation of programmatic change.

Responsible for the development of strategic goals for the physician enterprise and collaborates with the SLT to ensure these goals are in line with the goals of the health system.

Participates with the Health System and physician members in planning and implementing the physician enterprise’s mission and strategies.

Establishes business plan, profitability measures, and budgets for professional services.

Establishes systems and processes that ensure effective clinical operations and revenue cycle processes.

Identifies and manages collaboratively with other departments and the physician staff. Champions interdepartmental projects and collaborates with Leaders.

Responsible for physician compensation model design, compensation plans for divisions/individuals, and incentive plan metrics. Oversees the implementation, communication, measurement, and ongoing maintenance and benchmarking for the plan.

Analyzes trends in market demand and clinical practices; evaluates alternatives for appropriateness, short- and long-term impact, and cost consequences; presents recommendations to physician and Health System leadership.

Develops and presents comprehensive analyses of financial and programmatic recommendations for physician and Health System leadership. Prepares and administers financial reporting systems, including practice budgets, procurement processes, and departmental revenue.

Provides support in the development of physician leadership. Assists in establishing goals, objectives, and plans to achieve desired outcomes.

Manages physician recruitment packages and contracts. Responsible for implementing efficient recruitment, hiring, and on-boarding processes for physician recruits.

Responsible for facilitating the governing body for the physician enterprise (i.e., PSA Board of Directors).

Develops relationships within the community to enhance the physician enterprise brand. Directs marketing efforts and internal and external communications.

Collaborates with other Health System and physician leaders to identify, reduce, and eliminate barriers that may negatively affect patient care and customer satisfaction.

Identifies and analyzes trends in patient satisfaction, provides leadership in establishing expectations, and resolving negative trends through collaboration with hospital and physician leadership.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Fellowship designation in ACHE, HFMA, or MGMA preferred.

Ability to delegate effectively and establish clear guidelines for accountability.

Ability to build consensus and provide strong leadership in a team environment with the highest of professional and personal integrity.

Proven track record of successful fiscal management of multi-million-dollar budgets. 

Effectiveness in managing departmental operations and supervising multilevel personnel.

Strong financial, analytical, and operational skills. 

Ability to establish credibility and respect within the medical group.

Ability to demonstrate effective leadership skills, independent judgment, and initiative consistent with MCHS policies and procedures as well as healthcare standards associated with the successful operations of the physician enterprise. 

Strong desire for process improvement, staff motivation, and leadership development. 

Knowledgeable in physician/hospital relationships and integration strategies and tactics.

Ability to reorganize work flow problems, redesigns new processes/work flows, and creates buy-in from all customers on change.

Effectively utilizes data and information to improve operations and efficiency.

Strong knowledge of professional billing and third-party reimbursement.

Strong knowledge of a wide variety of physician compensation and incentive arrangements.

Strong knowledge of physician recruitment and acquisitions.

Ability to apply effective communication, collaboration, and team-building skills in working with board members, physicians, midlevel providers, staff, patients, families, regulatory agencies, and members of the general public. 

Ability to effectively plan priorities and set reasonable organizational goals and objectives.
