Gilead is advancing a pipeline of novel investigational agents for inflammatory diseases, addressing multiple targets with potential application across a broad range of disorders. In this role, you will drive the global commercial strategy for our Inflammation treatment therapies for a specific disease state. From clinical trial design, clinical endpoints, lifecycle management and new indications, you’ll be providing insights and partnering with local markets, R&D, Medical Affairs, Value and Access, Clinical Development, Governmental Affairs and other functions to drive an integrated, global Inflammation strategy.  

Key Responsibilities 

Reporting to the Vice President, Global Commercial Product Strategy, Inflammation/ Respiratory Diseases, this role will be responsible for Gastroenterology where there are currently two Phase 3 trials enrolling patients (Ulcerative Colitis, Crohn’s Disease) with expected launches in the coming years. She/he will: 

Lead a cross-functional and cross-geography team to build and implement a long-term, integrated, global commercial vision and strategy for the treatment of inflammation diseases. Co-Lead the Indication Leadership Team together with Medical 

Collaborate with Medical Affairs and Value & Access and leaders in key markets to incorporate their input and insight into strategic commercial plans and launches, maximizing value and patient reach for our inflammation therapeutic assets 

Establish a strong collaborative partnership with Medical/R&D to effectively incorporate market intelligence and commercial perspectives into development and clinical trial II-IV plans that lead to differentiated therapies which meet global market, regulatory and payer needs 

Drive alignment on global commercial strategic decisions throughout the product lifecycle, including value proposition, brand positioning and launch strategy and work with global counterparts to develop and implement annual global commercial plans that inform country-specific brand plan of actions 

Develop an effective engagement and collaboration model with key markets with frequent touchpoints. The support model should ensure strategic alignment and effective implementation of brand strategy 

Build and develop an industry-leading team to deliver the global inflammation strategy and conduct strategic marketing activities including product profile development, market and competitive research, product positioning, publication planning, and name selections 

As the brand steward of our inflammation treatment assets, develop and execute global launch campaigns, including the development of a differentiating strategy, unique branding, compelling positioning and key messaging that maintain our global market position 

Your ultimate benchmark will be the successful development and execution of a global commercial strategy that maximizes the overall value of the asset and patient access across the product lifecycle 

Knowledge, Skills and Experience 

We’re seeking a strategic, influential leader and experienced global leader with: 

At least 16 years of relevant commercial leadership experience in the biotech or pharmaceutical industry, including global product strategic planning, portfolio and lifecycle brand management, tactical marketing, and new product planning and launches 

Substantial inflammation/respiratory-specific experience and market knowledge in inflammatory conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis, gastro-intestinal diseases/inflammatory bowel syndrome, etc., ideally in the pre-launch / launch phase 

Global experience working with or in multiple key markets 

Experience in working in co-promotion / partnerships with other companies a plus 

Experience with the clinical development process and its relevant commercial inputs 

Demonstrated ability to conceive, develop and implement multi-dimensional marketing and business plans 

Proven track record in managing a globally dispersed team, building a distinctive team culture and developing people into leadership positions 

Experience leading cross-functional teams and developing deep collaborations with partners in Medical Affairs, R&D, Value & Access, Legal, Public Affairs, and Regulatory groups as well as senior leadership 

Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills  

Strong analytical skills, demonstrated by the ability to identify and interpret complex issues and provide appropriate recommendations to senior management and across functional areas 

Ability to influence, motivate and persuade others; skilled facilitator, negotiator and counselor 

B.A. or B.S. required, MBA and/or advanced degree in life sciences or medical degree preferred
