But this expertise is just a foundation for our ambitions. In this role, you will drive the global commercial strategy for our HBV therapies and pipeline assets. From pre-POC activities, clinical trial design, clinical endpoints, lifecycle management and new indications, you’ll be providing insights and partnering with local markets, R&D, Medical Affairs, Value and Access, Clinical Development, Governmental Affairs and other functions to drive an integrated, global HBV strategy.



Key Responsibilities 

Reporting to the Executive Director, Global Commercial Product Strategy, Liver Diseases, this role will: 

Lead a cross-functional and cross-geography team to build and implement a long-term, integrated, global commercial vision and strategy for HBV treatment. Co-Lead the Indication Leadership Team together with Medical 


Evaluate commercial opportunities and develop business cases for pre-POC assets under development, and working with R&D development teams to ensure plans have the potential to deliver differentiated products and commercial value 


Collaborate with Medical Affairs and Value & Access and leaders in key markets to incorporate their input and insight into strategic commercial plans and launches, maximizing value and patient reach for our HIV therapeutic assets 


Establish a strong collaborative partnership with Medical/R&D to effectively incorporate market intelligence and commercial perspectives scientific research and development plans, including trial endpoints, target product profiles and implications of development options that lead to differentiated therapies which meet global market, regulatory and payer needs 


Drive alignment on global commercial strategic decisions throughout the product lifecycle, including value proposition, brand positioning and launch strategy and work with global counterparts to develop and implement annual global commercial plans that inform country-specific brand plan of actions 


Develop an effective engagement and collaboration model with key markets with frequent touchpoints. The support model should ensure strategic alignment and effective implementation of brand strategy 


Support the effective progression of programs through development stages by researching disease states and developing patient flows, situation assessments, target product profiles, and strategic options to maximize program value and return 


Conduct situation assessments, including competitive landscapes, customer segmentation, forecasts and value & access trends for disease area opportunities and translate insights into strategies 


Synthesize the commercial perspectives, insights and results needed to identify future market opportunities and review external opportunities for potential acquisition and partnering, balancing near-term and long-term priorities for commercial viability 


Build and develop an industry-leading team to deliver the global HBV strategy and conduct strategic marketing activities including product profile development, market and competitive research, product positioning, publication planning, and name selections 


As the brand steward of our HBV treatment assets, develop and execute global launch campaigns, including the development of a differentiating strategy, unique branding, compelling positioning and key messaging that maintain our global market position 


Your ultimate benchmark will be the successful development and execution of a global commercial strategy that maximizes the overall value of the assets and patient access across the product lifecycle 


Knowledge, Skills and Experience 

We’re seeking a strategic, influential leader and experienced global leader with: 

At least 16 years of relevant commercial leadership experience in the biotech or pharmaceutical industry, including global product strategic planning, portfolio and lifecycle brand management, tactical marketing, and new product planning and launches 

Substantial HBV-specific experience and market knowledge  

Global experience working with or in multiple key markets 

Experience with the development process and its relevant inputs 

Strong experience in disease area opportunity assessment and the evaluation of partnership and pipeline opportunities. Opportunistic thinker with strong judgement and analytical mindset 

Experience with global access and pricing strategy, including building a value story and evidence planning 

Demonstrated ability to conceive, develop and implement multi-dimensional marketing and business plans 

Proven track record in managing a globally dispersed team, building a distinctive team culture and developing people into leadership positions 

Experience leading cross-functional teams and developing deep collaborations with partners in Medical Affairs, R&D, Public Affairs, and Regulatory groups as well as senior leadership 

Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills  

Strong analytical skills, demonstrated by the ability to identify and interpret complex issues and provide appropriate recommendations to senior management and across functional areas 

Ability to influence, motivate and persuade others; skilled facilitator, negotiator and counselor 

B.A. or B.S. required, MBA and/or advanced degree in life sciences or medical degree preferred
