Serves as a system-wide leader for clinical risk management, Quality and Safety at all IU Health facilities and venues. Develops operational and strategic plans, as well as monitoring and executing such plans that will enable IU health to become recognized as a national leader in risk reduction, safety and quality. Partners with internal and external stakeholders to eliminate preventable harm events, continuously improve patient safety and outcomes, and ensure safe, high reliable and best quality care. Manages the system-wide Clinical Risk Management and Quality and Safety staff and is responsible for hiring, education, and training of highly skilled Risk Managers, Patient Advocates, Quality and Safety Professionals. Leads: 1. the system-wide program for clinical risk management coverage/consultation and crisis management, the development of system-wide incident/event reporting, trending and analysis, and both proactive and reactive responses to that information and 2. Leads, facilitates, and influences the alignment of clinical risk, quality and safety improvements across the system. Aligns Quality, Safety and risk management priorities with IU Health's mission, vision, brand strategy, related performance improvement activities, financial plans, and key strategic goals.
Qualifications / Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
Master's Degree required.
Physician, Pharmacist, or Registered Nurse preferred. Certified Professional Health Care Risk Manager (CPHRM) required within one year of hire date.
Requires 10+ years of relevant experience in clinical and management roles in a health-care system.
Requires 3-5 years of leadership experience in Clinical Quality, Safety and Risk Management which includes management of team members.
Requires experience with complex matrix organizations, building trusting relationships, influencing through indirect authority, and inspiring and aligning diverse stakeholders to achieve a common vision.
Requires knowledge of contemporary issues facing health care with demonstrated results addressing these issues, as well as knowledge of Federal, State and local regulatory agency guidelines and laws.
