Provides leadership and management for the Engineering Department at a Network Hospital. Provides engineering solutions to facility system problems for office, laboratory, hospital inpatient, and clinical outpatient areas.


EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's degree in Business or Engineering.


LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, and/or REGISTRATION: Valid North Carolina driver's license.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Manages the engineering staff at a network hospital to maintain the facility compliance with all regulatory codes and accreditation standards including TJC and CMS. 2. Manages engineering design and construction for engineering capital projects. Maintains project and equipment documentation. Provides support to contractors involved in projects and contracted repairs. 3. Works directly with the Facilities Planning Department to design and coordinate construction for renovation projects. Reviews project specifications and construction documents for all projects. 4. Manages the implementation of preventative maintenance standards and assure compliance with the Joint Commission and other regulatory agencies. 5. Manages the maintenance and repair of building HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire alarm, fire protection and medical gas systems. 6. Available 24/7 to assist with evaluating building system failures and coordinate repair responses. 7. Oversees and directs the management of the Power Plant. Coordinates utilities shutdowns and notify affected departments. 8. Provides direction and guidance to the engineering staff and assist with daily maintenance activities. 9. Manages the implementation of energy conservation measures. Reviews energy expenditures and formulate energy conservation strategies. 10. Manages departmental policies to ensure regulatory compliance. Provides training related to all Wake Forest Baptist Health policies and Department of Engineering policies. 11. Assists Environmental Health and Safety department with annual safety training and institutional health and safety programs. 12. Manages NFPA testing and maintain documentation for Authority Having Jurisdiction, insurance underwriter and The Joint Commission. Perform quarterly Joint Commission readiness assessments. 13. Ensures compliance with all regulatory authorities and accreditation organization standards including CMS and The Joint Commission. Maintains required Electronic Statement of Conditions, Building Information, and Utility Management Plan. Maintains all life safety drawings and act as consultant related to life safety issues. Consults and report to various state and federal regulatory agencies, i.e. City of High Point, Guilford County, Department of Health and Human Services, and North Carolina Department of Environment and Natural Resources. 14. Works directly with Security and Risk Management to respond to Fire, Safety and Security concerns. Provides information for Risk Assessment documentation for projects and life safety system repairs. 15. Assists medical emergency response committees by providing engineering solutions to environmental hazards. Serve as Engineering Representative on Disaster committee, Environmental Safety Committee. 16. Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending seminars, reviewing engineering publications and participating in professional societies.
