News Corp is seeking a Financial Analyst (Consultant) who will be responsible for financial and reporting support to News Corp’s Global Shared Services Technology organization. The analyst will provide day-to-day financial support and be integral in the areas of budgeting, forecasting, reporting and analysis across multiple technology functions within the company.


This role is a 6 month consultant role with a possibility to convert to a permanent full time role and is preferably based in the New York area with the ability to be in office on a hybrid basis.


Job Responsibilities:



  • Prepare and distribute timely monthly financial reporting reflecting actual results and comparison to forecast/budget. Working closely with various audiences across technology pillars

  • Assist with budget and re-forecasting technology costs, including variance and trending analysis. Includes maintenance of a database of actuals and budgets

  • Build business case models to evaluate the financial impact of decisions

  • Assist with monthly financial close processes including the preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations, expenses, and intercompany charges

  • Provide support to Finance Management, including ad hoc research requests and project analysis

  • Provide global assistance and support to our Australia and UK IT Teams and financials

  • Maintain strong working relationships across business units and finance/accounting leads

  • Identify and address process efficiencies as the division expands

  • Assist with KPI (key performance indicators) collection and reporting for projects such as BU allocation modeling

  • Provide financial analysis & guidance on day-to-day requests (ex: contracts, purchase orders, ad hoc projects)


Requirements:



  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; 4+ years of experience; IT Finance experience a plus

  • A high level of proficiency in Microsoft Excel is required. Google Sheet experience is also preferred

  • Experience using SAP, Microsoft Analysis for Office ideal for management reporting or similar systems like PeopleSoft, TM1, Hyperion Financial Management (HFM)

  • Experience working with large databases and creation of FP&A reporting

  • Excellent organizational and verbal/written communication skills

  • Self Motivated, Proactive, Team Player, and ability to adapt to change a must

  • Superior attention to detail and accuracy; critical thinking ability

  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills for creating insightful, actionable reporting and measurement systems

  • Ability to multitask under pressure and in a fast-paced environment with fluctuating priorities and deadlines

  • Process-oriented approach and focused attention to detail with high standards for quality and accuracy in work product

  • A team player with the ability to work well with others while accomplishing tasks independently
