Franchise & Retail Estate Director South Europe

Position location: Paris or Barcelona HQ

As Director of Franchise and Expansion you will contribute to the strategy definition for South Europe (France, Spain, Portugal, Italy, and Malta) to grow the business profitably through store portfolio expansion and Franchise development.  You will find and develop new franchisees to deliver maximum profitability and reinforce the Levi’s® Brand image and Values in the market. In this role you will also define and execute development plans, manage the relationship with Franchisees and drive the transition towards excellence in franchise management. From a real estate perspective, you will drive the expansion of the Store Portfolio in prime locations, thanks to your extended knowledge of the Real Estate business. You will also manage and constantly assess the existing portfolio of stores (openings, closings, contracts, locations) in order to improve the profitability of the Retail channel in region.  


Execute the Strategic and Annual Plan with regards to the Franchise Business and overall Real Estate.

Be the primary lead and contact person to all franchise partners in the region.

Find and develop new franchise partners in line with LS&Co strategic direction, brand requirements, contracts and processes. Hereby promoting the LS&CO Franchise model to potential stake-holders across Europe.

Lead all franchise contract negotiations, defending LS&CO’s interests, explaining requirements and ways of working.

Drive profitability through a continuous store portfolio assessment and understand current store locations to evaluate if they are still appropriate and in line with the Retail Strategy.

Closely cooperate with the Brand Presentation team to discuss refits or store openings.

Ensure all needed projects are well prepared and presented for Retail Property Board approval. Collect all the data and present them in an accurate and timely manner. Cooperate with Finance to define the P&L to submit to the Retail Property Board.

Manage and constantly assess the existing portfolio of stores and franchise partners (store openings, store closings, new/terminate franchise contracts, new locations) in order to improve the Productivity and Profitability of the Retail Channel in France.

Lead the real estate portfolio in the region.

Proactively renegotiate, change and extend contracts of the existing stores portfolio. Negotiate rent reviews with the landlords.

Develop and maintain contacts with Real Estate brokers, landlords, mall operators, and other contacts to ensure sufficient pipeline of potential store locations and to develop an in-depth knowledge of the Retail Real Estate market to identify threats and opportunities for the portfolio of stores.

Find potential locations and evaluate them both strategically and financially. Provide qualitative and commercial benchmarks. Negotiate rents, terms and conditions with landlords.

Provide timely and accurate retail Capex and A&P updates by individual project for the Region.

Build strong internal relationships with the Key Stakeholders (Retail Director, Sales Manager, District Managers, Trade Marketing) enabling achievement of Store Portfolio growth targets.

Essential Requirements

7 years commercial experience in Retail development and management, with experience in Real Estate, with a strong preference for a retail operations background

Excellent knowledge of the Distribution, Real Estate market and Retail Competition

Affinity with legal compliance and technical requirements of a commercial space

Ability to read a balance sheet and understand the drivers of a P&L

Other competencies:

Fluent in English and French and/or Spanish spoken and written.

Excellent negotiation and influencing skills

Able to establish long term strategies while delivering consistent and first-class execution

Experience working in a matrix organization and collaboratively across departments

Ability to identify future business opportunities / risks and to develop strategies to address

Anticipate and identify competitor and retail changes which may affect our business

Strong networking skills


Degree in Business Management or other relevant education
