The Role:This role is responsible for all aspects of leading the Carbon team globally. Based in London, the Head of Global Carbon Pricing plays an essential role in driving forward our global carbon coverage including development of assessments, market data and analysis, building out a global team. The role holder manages a team of four people in Houston, London and Gurgaon, each tasked with daily coverage and development of a suite of new assessments in the carbon markets. The role holder provides overall strategy for the group as well as decision-making around key benchmarks. They also engage internally and externally with key stakeholders, including through methodology development and discussions.

It involves driving transparency in the carbon markets that are becoming a core part of accounting for greenhouse gas emissions around the world and are set to grow a hundred-fold in the coming years.
The Career Opportunity:To work at the very center of Platts’ benchmark commodity price assessment and market reporting team, in a role that touches on a range of commodities and locations. The Head reports to the Senior Director, Pricegroup, and works closely with the head of methodology development as well as sector heads and the Global Head of Commodity Pricing for Platts.
The Team / The Business:You’ll work with a high profile and highly motivated global leadership team, producing pricing and benchmarks for world commodity markets. You will manage reporters in London, Gurgaon and Houston. The Carbon Pricing team analyzes market activity and data and incorporates market knowledge into developing and publishing price assessments and cost-plus assessments that shall be used by clients.They also report on burgeoning spot market and forward market prices and the factors moving markets as they develop.The team is global and collaborative and engages with the market through various mediums, including commentaries, stories, podcasts, blogs, and videos. It is vital the team works across other content sectors such as generating fuels, oil and LNG.
Direct the Global Carbon team, develop staff and talent
Drive development of new assessments and benchmarks for voluntary carbon credits, compliance carbon contracts and low carbon commodities including crude oil.
Build out a pricing content strategy for the coming years
Drive operational excellence and further development of best practices
Engage with internal and external stakeholders on methodology issues
What We’re Looking For:Strong experience in commodity benchmarks, excellent understanding of Platts methodology and commodity trade operations, as well as a clear and detailed comprehension of relevant regulation. Strong interpersonal skills, an ability to represent the business at the highest levels with regulators and the industry, in meetings as well as public presentations.
Minimum of Bachelor’s degree or similar level university degree
At least seven years of experience in market coverage and commodity benchmark provision
Excellent English writing skills
Strong analytical skills
Good organizational planning skills; able to work collaboratively in a dynamic, fast-paced team environment
Self-driven, energetic and proactive
Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to work in a team-oriented, global, multi-cultural environment
