Fiduciary Trust Company International’s Business Development department is responsible for the development of new business from ultra-high net worth individual investors, their families and related institutions. The role primarily focuses on investment management opportunities, but typically also includes trust, estate, tax and related custody opportunities. A large degree of daily discretion and latitude is required to meet and interact with prospective clients and their advisors as necessary.

Due to the complex nature of prospective clients’ various investment objectives and related service needs, the incumbent must be well versed in a broad range of investment disciplines and trust and estate topics. Candidates must be able to convey a consultative approach to sales while displaying a broad knowledgebase to referral source relationships and prospective clients, so as to become worthy of their confidence and trust. 

What is the Wealth Director responsible for?

Oversee sales process and gain commitment from prospective clients for Fiduciary Trust Company International’s (FTCI) advice and services.

Identify, develop, and broaden relationships with referral sources and prospective clients to encourage them to employ Fiduciary Trust Company International (FTCI).

Pursue and develop prospective new business with ultra-high net worth individuals and families.

In-depth knowledge of regional HNW market dynamics and utilize that understanding to build a target prospective client list for FTCI.

Partner with Portfolio Managers, Relationship Managers, Trust Counsel, and Market Leader to lead client acquisition strategies through relationship reviews that identify client’s existing needs and for their legacy planning.

Grow and maintain relationships with existing clients to identify where additional advice and services may exist for FTCI to advise client.

Effectively communicate and identify the need for investment, fiduciary, and planning solutions and strategies.

Participate as expert or develop expert status while leading, speaking, or attending conferences, seminars, and community event gatherings.These events could be attended by existing and potential referral sources and/or existing and prospective clients.

Lead and coordinate presentations of the firm’s capabilities to prospective clients and their advisors (lawyers, accountants, consultants).

Contribute to the development and enhancement of prospect presentations and on-going marketing material.

Participate in the development of new ideas, planning and execution of high net worth business development issues with senior management and other team members.

What ideal qualifications, skills & experience would help someone to be successful?

Proven success in achieving or exceeding sales or business development goals.

8-10 years of business development experience dealing with the diverse needs of ultra-high net worth investors, families and their advisors. 

Demonstrated ability to gain commitment from prospective clients when advising on investment, fiduciary, wealth planning, or estate advice.

Experience in marketing traditional and sophisticated financial and/or wealth planning strategies. 

Knowledgeable on asset allocation and investment management styles, asset classes and risk mitigation techniques, bank services, and trust and estate management strategies. 

Developed network of professional advisors and referral sources within community. 

Highly motivated to cultivate new relationships. 

Ability to listen and understand the needs of prospective clients while demonstrating how Fiduciary Trust can provide advice and solutions. 

Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, for effective technical and interpersonal interaction with clients, intermediaries and colleagues.

Self-motivated and able to achieve goals whether working autonomously or as a team.

Bachelor’s degree required, advanced degree preferred.CFA, CAIA, CPA, CFP designations are also looked favorably upon as well.

Evidence of community engagement (boards/volunteerism) preferred.
