In this newly created position, this experienced communications manager will be dedicated and focused on developing strategic employee communications plans to help drive engagement and build pride for employees of Stanford Health Care (SHC). They will clearly and creatively articulate purpose, priorities, and cultural values with answers to why what I do makes a difference for SHC. A keen understanding of the different roles and the value of employee communications and employee engagement will be essential, as well as the ability to combine these effectively as part of an integrated communications strategy.


The ideal candidate will collaborate with brand and functional business partners, including the CSO, CMO and head of HR to inform, inspire, and engage employees to ensure SHC is an inspired place of work.


Job Duties


Partners with business leaders to develop strategic employee communications and engagement plans that drive engagement, shape culture and build connected employee communities.


Serve as an internal consultant to design executive communications recommendations that drive business results and match KPIs


Contribute to leadership narratives and supporting content to help reinforce the company’s purpose, priorities and cultural values.


Serve as a steward of the employee experience to help safeguard against “information overload” and “noise”, ensuring communications is always relevant and drives behavioral change.


Collaborate with colleagues from all communication disciplines (internal, external, social, content)


Partner wth a talented group of employee communicators, brand strategists and designers to bring Stanford Medicine’s purpose and culture to life.


Develop and execute communication plans, templates, and key message platforms that support organization and HR initiatives and programs.  


Write/editclear, targeted and concise communication deliverables that drive company-wide employee engagement.


Translate complex company initiatives/programs into easy to understand messaging, both visually and verbally

Job Qualifications:


Minimum Qualifications


Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Communications / Public Relations, Journalism, or related work experience


Experience: 6-10 years relative experience. Experience building/managing a SharePoint site and using Adobe Photoshop. Confidence and experience working with executive leadership.


Software: Expert in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. Must have a working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop and other graphic editing programs to create graphics for emails, newsletter, and programs.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:


These are the observable and measurable attributes and skills required to perform successfully the essential functions of the job and are generally demonstrated through qualifying experience, education, or licensure/certification. 


Strong executive communications experience supporting corporate functions within a global organization.


Experience contributing to the design and execution of leadership narratives and supporting content strategies for socially-driven channels.


Passion for building process and structure to support high growth and optimizing execution of day-to-day operations and deliverables.


Extraordinary writing, storyboarding, and presentation development skills.


Comfortable working with ambiguity and pivoting in an ever-changing environment.


A collaborative leader capable of building cross-functional relationships to drive change and influence business decisions; exhibits a no-job-is-too-big or small attitude.


Creative, visual storyteller, with a passion for creating content for all channels and audiences.


Strong project management and communication skills.


Proven leadership capability and ability to lead cross-function project teams.


Demonstrated ability to work in highly matrix organizations
