Merck & Co., Inc. Kenilworth, N.J., U.S.A. known as Merck in the United States and Canada, is a global health care leader with a diversified portfolio of prescription medicines, vaccines and animal health products. The difference between potential and achievement lies in the spark that fuels innovation and inventiveness; this is the space where Merck has codified its legacy for over a century. Merck’s success is backed by ethical integrity, forward momentum, and an inspiring mission to achieve new milestones in global healthcare.
Merck IT has an incredible opportunity in the next 3 to 5 years to digitally enable Merck’s most critical business outcomes, at a pace that will require accelerated speed and agility in our technology environment and in our IT processes. To enable this, we need to re-imagine and re-invent our planning processes with Enterprise Architecture leading the way. This includes driving a top-down, enterprise-focused approach to two critical disciplines. First, how we plan our future state technology environment to modernize technology where needed and implement new capabilities where gaps exist. And second, how we plan and prioritize our IT investments fully aligned to these critical business outcomes.
To enable Enterprise Architecture to drive these disciplines across all of IT, a common and well managed set of practices is essential, particularly the need for IT to manage it’s own data in cohesive way across all our systems of record. IT’s portfolio management, financial management, asset management, and other “Run IT as a business” systems need to be anchored in a common data foundation and common direction around the analytics needs of this data. All to drive better planning practices.
The EA Manager, Information and Practice Management will be responsible for defining and managing not only the common Information Management processes and master data, but a variety of other core and common practices as well. This include our architecture governance model, our EA community and knowledge sharing functions, and our EA principles and standards.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to work on a truly enterprise team that engages with leaders across all divisions, and will be directly involved in helping enable our CIO’s envision of a more top-down, agile, and business outcomes focused IT organization.
Primary responsibilities:
Define and drive the implementation of our IT Master Data Strategy, with a focus on standardizing all of IT around a single 3 level Business Capability Model
Serve as business owner of the EA modeling toolsets and data management / mapping capabilities
Develop and ensure adoption of the core principles, templates, and practices related to architecture road-mapping and governance
Throughout 2019, build and manage a team of 2 to 4 colleagues to manage and steward IT Master Data, EA Community and Knowledge Mgmt, EA Governance, and EA reporting and analytics
