The Internal Communications Manager (ICM), reporting to the Chief Physical Security Officer (CPSO), is responsible for developing and executing compelling internal employee communications, presentations, briefings, engagement strategies and plans that engage, align and inspire.


The communications for employees from the verticals under the Office of the CPSO (OCPSO) align with San Manuel’s overall strategy, vision, and business objectives. The ICM focuses on driving employees' understanding of the mission, vision and values, operational priorities, and key initiatives within the OCPSO, Department of Public Safety (DPS) and Emergency Services (ES), to promote a performance-based and engaged culture.


The ICM is a skilled communicator with experience developing strategic communications plans to include employer branding, messaging, and execution for internal lines of businesses. The ICM also provides communications counsel and guidance to the CPSO, Vice President of DPS and ES, and works closely with department leadership and other support functions, as needed.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities


Creates effective and collaborative internal communications processes. Researches industry trends (e.g. through networking, benchmarking, industry publications and contacts) to determine new methods for information sharing, message delivery and engagement.

Oversees the creation, delivery, and management of communications that provide clarity and direction to our workforce.Creates opportunities to share departmental news and updates, key initiatives, priorities and topics with employees.

Works closely with the executive leadership team and departments to keep abreast of enterprise developments and trends.

Tracks effectiveness of communication campaigns and manages feedback channels; utilizes said information to make recommendations to improve current strategies. 

Establishes and tracks results to gauge communication programs’ effectiveness, employee productivity, and performance.Develops traditional and next-generation messaging, including emails, social posts, videos, blogs, etc. 

Provides key stakeholders with council on strategy, messaging and positioning.

Produces concise written communications, presentations, and guidance documents.

Assigns and monitors internal communication activities.

Performs other duties as assigned to support the efficient operation of the department.


Supervisory Responsibilities


Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.  Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning reviewing and directing work; evaluating and appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.


Requirements


Education/Experience/Qualifications


Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, English, Business Administration or related field is required.

Master’s degree in Journalism, Communications, English, Business Administration or related field is preferred.

Minimum eight (8) years experience in Marketing, Public Relations, or Corporate Communications is required.

Minimum five (5) years supervisory experience is required.

Equivalent combination of education and progressive, relevant and direct experience may be considered in lieu of minimum educational/experience requirements.

Proven history of developing effective communications vehicles utilizing multiple mediums (video, print, web, etc.).

Demonstrated experience in planning, measuring and evaluating communication effectiveness.

Proven proficiency in Microsoft Word (including the ability to edit and track changes online), Microsoft Office, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat Professional advanced editing tools.

Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy.

A demonstrated ability to design and execute internal communications strategies.

Acute business acumen and understanding of organizational issues and challenges.

Extensive experience in writing and executing proactive communications plans; an acumen for building and fostering relationships across business functions and a diverse workforce.

Skilled at managing relationships with executive leadership.

Outstanding in all aspects of communications: written, oral, listening, presenting and expressing ideas.

Able to edit own work and the work of others.

Capable of summarizing and effectively communicating complex research results to non-researchers at all levels including to senior management.

Possesses aptitude and superior project management skills to thrive in a fast-paced rapidly changing environment, managing multi-dimensional projects and competing deadlines while producing quality work under time constraints with a high tolerance for ambiguity.

Demonstrates commitment to quality and continuous improvement and have a results-oriented approach to developing and managing measurement metrics that drive towards business results.

Must have the ability to build and maintain positive team dynamics and collaboration work independently as well as collectively.

Certificates/Licenses/Registrations


At the discretion of the San Manuel Tribal Gaming Commission, you may be required to obtain and maintain a gaming license.

A qualified candidate/employee must have a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record as determined by the company’s insurance carrier.
