The IT Director manages and maintains all computer systems and communication technologies. This includes managing the local and wide area networks, servers and cloud-based solutions, telephone land lines, internet cable, and cellular phones.Implementing security and controls, training and supporting end-users, researching and implementing new technologies, establishing and documenting best practices and processes, and maximizing return on computer asset investments.This position also provides direct support to the Association’s end users related to desktop and laptops as well as peripheral devices.
Network and Workstation Management: Manage and oversee the Association's information system (2 local sites and 16 remote sites.)Develop and manage system security controls and standards related to hardware and software.Maintain an association inventory of equipment and report on the state of overall IT infrastructure.
Research and Planning: Evaluate issues pertaining to information systems and make recommendations for long range planning and innovation.The Director of IT will research areas of technology (software, hardware, etc.) that relate to the Association's needs.
Vendor Interface: Supervise the work of vendors hired to perform technical tasks as it pertains to IT.Interface with AT&T, Frontier, Verizon, Comcast, Cox Cable, Charter Communications and Whittlesey Advisors (external IT consultants) to resolve application and infrastructure issues.Work with external vendors (copier systems, HVAC and building systems, security systems, etc.) related to connectivity of devices to insure systems are communicating as needed.
Help Desk: Provide all levels support for IT systems and infrastructure.Be the point person for incoming trouble calls from the branches.Provide support to the end-user for software and hardware questions.Provide on-site support for remote branches when required.Train personnel on proper operating procedures in regard to the network, as well as, PC workstations.
Desktop and Laptop Systems:Build, troubleshoot and repair PCs and laptops.Provide support for other peripherals and connected devices.
Phone Systems:Work with landline providers to insure branch’s have necessary telecom services.Manage the cell phone providers and set up of staff with necessary equipment and connectivity.
Proven record of managing a large and complex IT system with at least 3-5 years of experience.
Experience managing an Office 365 environment.
Bachelor’s degree in relevant area of study preferred.
Excellent time management skills with the ability to plan, organize, multi-task and prioritize work.
Attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a commitment to excellence in customer service.
Proficient in MS Office including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Physically able to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodations, including lifting up to 50 pounds.
Access to own vehicle and ability to drive to locations within Hartford County.
