Greystone’s Corporate Finance Group has an exciting opportunity for a commercial real estate professional to lead its multifamily and healthcare syndication and loan sale efforts on behalf of Greystone’s Portfolio Lending Group (PLG). The Managing Director, Loan Syndications and Debt Placement is a newly created position and will report to the Executive Managing Director of Corporate Finance. The position can be located in Boston, New York City, Atlanta, Dallas or Chicago.
The Portfolio Lending Group is responsible for all balance sheet lending activity at the firm, including first mortgage bridge and mezzanine financing, underwritten with a view towards repayment utilizing Greystone’s Fannie, Freddie and FHA lending programs.Greystone’s PLG investment portfolio is currently $2.5 billion with targeted originations of $1.2Bn per annum. The group’s mezzanine/B-Note lending capacity has the need to develop and maintain reliable relationships with senior A-note lenders, to enable PLG to syndicate and/or sell senior loan positions while retaining a mezzanine or B-Note position.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Identify and maintain relationships with A-Note investors and senior lenders for multifamily and healthcare bridge loans originated by Greystone
Collaborate with loan originators, underwriters, legal, and accounting departments to structure marketable loan products
Assess and offer input into the marketability of senior loan positions throughout the loan origination and credit process.
Prepare presentation and sales materials
Negotiate terms and documentation including Agreements Among Lenders, Participation Agreements, Intercreditor Agreements, Note Purchase and Sale Agreements
Explore, innovate and create new structures in order to increase marketability of Greystone portfolio loan products
Keep abreast of industry trends and opportunities and inform colleagues and senior management
Skills and Attributes Required
Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with domestic and international financial institutions
Demonstrated track record in syndication and senior loan placement for a real estate financial advisory firm, commercial loan broker or lender.
Excellent negotiating skills
Excellent communication and presentation skills
Ability to manage the documentation and closing process
Expertise with a variety of structures including A/B loan structures, participations, syndications, debt placement, and mezzanine loans
Educational and Professional Requirements
10+ years’ experience in A-Note sales, loan participations and syndications
Multifamily and healthcare Agency/FHA finance experience a plus
Successful work history with a lending principal or intermediary
Active contacts and working relationships with relevant debt providers
