Driven by a strong belief in a primary care led healthcare model, the COO will have direct oversight and accountability for all Village Medical operations and performance from initiation through maturation. This individual will enjoy oscillating between business strategy and operational execution and will bring both deep content knowledge and demonstrated results partnering with physicians to execute under value-based reimbursement structures. This position will require the individual to demonstrate collaboration across the executive leadership team and a diverse market stakeholder base to drive operational efficiency and performance while building a continuously scalable organization.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate a proven ability to partner successfully with physicians in driving large-scale transformation efforts. This person will bring a strong track record of leadership including the ability to achieve results with and through others. Well-developed interpersonal skills and a high degree of emotional intelligence and flexibility will be integral to success in this role. Ability to navigate within ambiguity, a service orientation, and a high level of humility are all requirements for successful assimilation into our highly collaborative, entrepreneurial culture. This role will be dynamic and evolving in nature as Village Medical continues to expand into new geographies.  

While this leadership role will be dynamic in nature, specific responsibilities will include:

End accountability for Village Medical operational performance across all markets

Ownership of existing and future market P&L revenue and income targets as measured by:

Achievement of physician and clinic growth goals

Execution on clinical outcomes across all value-based payer contracts

Developing and sustaining a differentiated consumer experience across all Village Medical care sites, including virtual care

Engaging with and enhancing relationships with local market providers and physician leadership; contributing to continued market growth and penetration

Continuous coaching and development of staff into the Village Medical clinical model of care

Assessing organizational design to optimize market support and performance

Supporting sales efforts and expediting speed to value in the initiation of new geographic market partnerships

Engaging with product development team to operationalize and execute on critical clinical initiatives to support better patient care

Identifying areas for improvement and driving change initiatives to completion to improve overall operations and financial outcomes

Prior experience building and managing a large physician group or network with a preferred emphasis on primary care

Previously worked and managed across a geographically dispersed organization including oversight for multiple geographic markets

A core belief in a primary care led model

Comfortable being a hands-on leader with a track record of “rolling up your sleeves” to drive desired outcomes

Willingness to dive into data despite experience level

What you bring to VillageMD:

Demonstrated experience leading and scaling multi-market physician practice operations during periods of rapid growth

History of performing in at-risk contracts preferred

Strong track record of fostering physician engagement

Ability to lead across a matrixed structure with local market presidents and operators

Experience building strong cross-functional teams across multiple geographies and leading through influence

A metric-driven leader with a history of consistently delivering on- or above-plan performance

Ability to create common operational processes across diverse geographies

Strong knowledge of professional revenue cycle operations

A hands-on leader with a player-coach mentality that is willing and able to provide “in the weeds” assistance to local teams

A visionary leader who is ready to define a new category of primary care

Extensive experience in healthcare administration with a proven track record of successfully leading medical group practices and launching de novo clinics

Thorough understanding of the healthcare environment and specific knowledge of physician practice management

Comfort with launching and leading large-scale operations while driving transformation and change management initiatives

Ability to quickly gain credibility and establish the required relationships to influence and generate results; can quickly influence market partners to take action

A natural comfort getting into the details of operations to drive execution, along with the ability to quickly pivot between strategy and operations

Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of healthcare financial and operational data and reporting as well as healthcare technology

Demonstrated experience driving results in a high-growth enterprise 

Bachelor’s Degree required
