EDRP: This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan reimbursement program. If selected for this position you must meet specific individual eligibility requirement, and submit your application within four months of appointment. The final award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) is determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services office.
The Chief of Staff (COS) is the top executive for all Providers and serves as a key and equal member of the facility Executive Leadership Team.
The COS participates in strategic planning, organizational assessment, program development, project management, budget planning/financial stewardship, executive decision making, policy determination and implementation strategies. He/she collaborates with other executives to ensure that policies and practices promote optimum patient care outcomes and efficiency. The COS is responsible for and has full authority over all Medical Providers. He/she is the catalyst for the integration and collaboration of Medical Staff with other professional disciplines and functional areas in the mutual achievement of patient centered and organizational goals. He/she monitors and promotes compliance with VA regulations and professional standards, working to ensure that facility programs reflect the mission and priorities of the Facility, VISN 20, Veterans Health Administration (VHA) and VA.
The COS will serve as a professional liaison to other VA, federal, community, affiliate, media, congressional, and constituent organizations regarding clinical matters. The COS also develops and maintains working relationships with affiliated medical schools and programs associated with the Medical Center, recruits certified licensed professional staff and ensures that staff practitioners are credentialed and privileged in accordance with VHA and Joint Commission (JC) requirements. He/she ensures medical staff are compliant with medical staff bylaws, agency rules and regulations, VA facility policies, JC standards and other appropriate regulations. He/she creates an environment of continuous quality improvement, within which programs and quality of care effectiveness are evaluated. The COS leads clinical staff to provide quality health care to each Veteran and embraces VHA's core values of integrity, commitment, advocacy, respect, and excellence.
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm

Occasional travel - Monthly travel to Community Based Outpatient Clinics in LaGrande-OR, Lewiston-ID, Yakima-WA, Grangeville-ID, Enterprise-OR, Richland-WA and Boardman-OR.

Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed.
Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
Completion of residency training, or its equivalent, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification.
Proficiency in spoken and written English.

Preferred Experience: Women's Health Provider; Minor Dermatology Procedures; Experienced in Management/Supervisory/Leadership roles; ability to cover panels in the absence of providers if needed.
