Essential Responsibilities:

Renewable Energy is the leading force of the Energy Transition. As penetration of Renewables increases, grid integration will become a key enabling technology. The Power System Analyst is part of the Renewables Chief Technology Office and is responsible to perform future-looking power system analysis for different grid systems and propose new grid integration capabilities that differentiate GE Renewable Energy’s products and services.

As a Power System Analyst, you will be expected to perform various power system simulations. You will have experience in running different power system simulation tools, both positive sequence and EMT. You will have an understanding of inverter controls for grid integration and have an understanding of electrical system requirements. You will work with technical teams to develop new technologies and with product management teams to flow down these new technologies into product requirements.

  • Perform power system simulations using different tools, both EMT and positive sequence tools.

  • Analyze, understand and interpret grid code and other regulatory requirements.

  • Work with Engineering to develop an understanding of GE’s products and generate variation of controls to support improved grid integration functionality.

  • Create models for GE’s products.

  • Work with Product Management to define next generation technology requirements.

  • Champion testing and validation of grid functionalities.

  • Work across teams and businesses to ensure commonality of business requirements and product performance.

  • Contribute to multi-generation product, technology and tool planning


  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering or similar.

  • Solid experience in PSCAD or other EMT simulation tools

  • Ability and willingness to travel 15% of the time

Desired Characteristics:

  • PhD degree

  • Experience in multiple EMT simulation tools

  • Experience in PSLF, PSSE or other positive sequence tools

  • Knowledge of grid codes and standards

  • Experience in development of power electronics based control systems

  • Wind turbine controls experience

  • Experience with MATLAB/Simulink, C, C++, C#, Python, JavaScript.

  • Experience with the MarkVIe controller and GE’s tools and systems of record.

  • Strong communications skills.
