The President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) is elected by the Trustees; is the principal executive officer of the Center for Creative Leadership; and, subject to the control of the Trustees and the Board of Governors, oversees the management of the Center in accordance with the bylaws. The CEO is an action-oriented global leader, adept at setting and realizing organizational vision while enabling operational excellence to execute on strategic goals, while performing all duties of the office of the president and such other duties as may be prescribed by the Board of Governors. Key responsibilities include

a visionary leader who, with the Board and the executive team, will envision, develop, communicate, and drive strategy that supports CCL’s mission.

adept at translating strategic vision into realistic, actionable business plans.

responsible and accountable for quickly identifying and taking action to address industry and organizational challenges and opportunities.

Initiate or revise plans for significant strategic initiatives such as creating relationships through affiliate and partnership with other organizations; major program or product redesign based on market demand; major organizational design shifts to meet current and future strategic initiatives; technology-based solutions that meet customer needs and/or respond to organizational efficiency drivers; and overseeing major capital expenditures necessary for strategic and operational plans.

Ensure the leaders and teams who connect with CCL customers/clients are prepared, supported, and held accountable, by having the structure and capabilities necessary to deliver world-class outcomes.


Top-level oversight of CCL’s fiscal operations to ensure the financial viability of the worldwide organization and all associated financial plans.

Oversee the formulation and implementation of plans to grow the Center’s fund-raising efforts.

Allocate and align resources, prioritize organizational focus and activities, and assign clear accountabilities to achieve organizational goals. Ensure balance between internal priorities such as research, leadership development solutions, open enrollment programs, societal advancement endeavors, product development, and administrative operations.


Consistently model leadership behaviors that enable the employees and associates of the organization to advance the understanding, practice, and development of leadership for the benefit of society worldwide.

Advance an organizational culture and climate that attracts, motivates, and retains passionate people who are ready to make an impact in the world every day.

Ensure strategic plans are aligned with CCL’s mission.


Maintain communications and effective working relationships with the Board of Governors and the Trustees, assist the Chairman of the Board of Governors in preparation for activities of the Board as required.

Ensure the appropriate Board of Governors and key board committees are filled by diverse and driven individuals who are committed to CCL’s mission and vision.

Accountable to the Board of Governors and Trustees for the preparation and presentation of the annual budget and other financial and performance-related reporting.


Ensure the right organizational structure, resources, and culture exists for CCL to attract, develop, and retain highly skilled, diverse, creative, resilient employees and associates across the globe.

Select, develop, and lead the executive and senior leaders of the Center as they execute CCL’s short- and long-term strategic and operational plans. Create succession plans, identify, and develop successors to ensure readiness of internal top talent to advance to key leadership roles, including that of the CEO.

Fosters cross collaboration, decision-making, teamwork, direction, alignment, and commitment between Executive Team members.

Partners and Key Stakeholders

Represent CCL to clients, communities, and regulators as the chief spokesperson for the institution, ensuring that the organization is properly represented to its various stakeholders throughout the world – including the academic, business, governmental, and non-governmental organization communities. Participate in conferences, seminars, and other public or private events.

Develop, grow, and maintain key partner relationships, network affiliates, and other strategic partnerships that advance CCL’s strategic priorities.

Skills, Competencies and Experiences Required

Master’s, MBA, Ph.D., or related advanced degree; 15 + years of business and senior level leadership experience.

Demonstrated effective leadership, facilitation, and collaboration skills at the C-suite level used to work with managers, executives, customers, partners, and boards in a global context.

Demonstrated success identifying strategic needs, analyzing potential solutions, and establishing strategic and tactical plans to resolves issues.

Able to recognize organizational needs and provide strategic thought leadership to the executive team and the Board so that operational decisions and actions are aligned with business strategy.

Demonstrated strong skills in oral and written communication, collaboration and influencing skills, and change leadership with key stakeholders employees, associates, customers, partners, and the CCL Board.

Ease with diverse employee, customer, and partners groups enabling successful relationships, leadership, influence, and strategic outcomes across global locations and multiple management levels.

Proven track record of meeting or exceeding strategic targets, both financial and mission-driven, in a professional services or similar organization.
