Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS) is seeking a Systems Engineer to join our technical staff responsible for development and sustainment of navy systems programs.The system engineering group works with internal and external customers to develop system architecture, hardware and software design solutions, establish new program/project start-ups, and develop/manage risk assessments. Our work is mission critical and directly contributes to national security. 

Responsibilities include the following:

Perform technical planning, requirements development, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems

Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal.

Ensure the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule and cost constraints.

Perform functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.

You demonstrate strategic big picture thinking along with sound decision making and good judgments.You have effective oral and written communication skills and enjoy working in a team environment.

 

Travel is occasional, consisting of visits to customer and subcontractor offices for program updates and technical reviews.Travel may increase in frequency around major program milestones. 

This position may be filled at the Engineer or Principal Engineer level.  


Qualifications 

Basic Qualifications

Engineer Systems

Bachelor’s degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) discipline and 2+ years of relevant work experience, or Masters degree in a STEM discipline and 0+ years of relevant work experience

Ability to read and interpret technical drawings

Proficiency with Microsoft Office

US Citizen with the ability to obtain a Secret clearance

Principal Engineer Systems

Bachelor’s degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) discipline and 5+ years of relevant work experience, or Masters degree in a STEM discipline and 3+ years of relevant work experience

Ability to read and interpret technical drawings

Strong fundamentals in systems engineering

Experience in system engineering disciplines such as development of CONOPs, system design, system architecture, and requirements

Proficiency with Microsoft Office

Experience with EVMS  

US Citizen with the ability to obtain a Secret clearance 

 Preferred Qualifications: 

Bachelors degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Aerospace Engineering

First-hand experience with requirements management

Design and operational knowledge of navy programs

Experience with system engineering tools such as IBM Rational DOORS

Experience with MBSE

Ability to read and interpret government or military specifications

Strong fundamentals in systems engineering

Experience with proposals
