This role serves as an Essilor Instruments ambassador to the Optometry profession and will be responsible for building strong relationships and partnerships to reinforce Essilor’s brand among the critical customer/stakeholder groups. This individual will have the responsibility for creating and ultimately executing the strategy behind Essilor Instrument’s relationships and presence within Optometry and with ophthalmology Key Opinion Leaders (KOL) and when needed will partner with groups outside their region and the US including other business units in the Essilor Group.
This role will support the adoption and creation of a full scope strategy solution offerings as future standards on the North American market demands and changes. They will collaborate and leverage the Global Instruments Corporate Organization, and Essilor Group business regional teams, providing vision and understanding about the North American market in clinical protocols and in ECPs business needs. As a Professional Development Director, you have more than 10+ years experience practicing as an O.D. You have well established relationships in the US Key Opinion Leaders networks. You will influence the future of visual health to drive disruptive innovations in the future standards of optometry in the North American market.
In particular, you can expect to:
Establish strong professional networking with Key Opinion Leaders, ophthalmic schools, industry organizations/associations and other strategic accounts and contribute to strengthening the credibility of Essilor Instruments as a key innovative leader in the Ophthalmic Industry in North America.
Contribute to the expansion of the range of products and services solutions offered in the North American market.
Contribute to gathering and analyzing competitive and market data to execute business decisions: in relation to competitors, market intelligence, and scientific approaches
Contribute to the definition of clinical protocols adapted and adopted by the North American market
Deliver speeches on relevant topics and build credibility in the marketplace.
Write and publish points-of-views/whitepapers/blogs on industry related issues and needs
Identify and support special projects to enhance engagement with key customers/stakeholder groups and to develop oneself.
Develop and deploy training for various stakeholders in the business value chain creation.
Execute engagement plans with key customer/stakeholder groups to build and strengthen relationships. Engagement plans will require the individual to:
Represent Essilor Instruments at National, Regional, State and local meetings and events (virtual/in-person) including but not limited to trade shows, conferences, professional association events, etc.
Implement special programs/events along with other internal teams
Conduct regular reviews of the customer groups to identify potential issues/risks
Domestic and International travel of 50% is required.
Education & Qualifications:
Current state-issued license for optometry and O.D.
10+ years experience as a practicing O.D.; and a solid experience in an ophthalmic manufacturer in Innovative Strategic Marketing or equivalent role
Excellent presentation and public-speaking skills to include a current and active role in ophthalmic associations and ability to lead conferences
Demonstrated strategic mindset and ability to think strategically about the range of market, business, and issues likely to affect Essilor Instruments
Demonstrated success in KOL management for ophthalmic Industry
Demonstrated leadership skills required
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with a variety of audiences
Excellent customer service and organization skills
Fluency in English written and oral communication is required. Additional fluency in French and/or Spanish is preferred/desired to work effectively with the central team.
