The FAST Labs business area is the innovative research and development engine within the Electronic Systems (ES) Sector of BAE that helps drive research efforts for leading academic and DoD research institutions by iteratively building systems and demonstrations that show customers what is possible.
FAST Labs is seeking a Project Technical Lead for the Sensor Technology (ST) product line. ST imagines, demonstrates, and transitions new components, capabilities, and system architectures to enable systems providing critical advantages to customers.
The PTL will lead various multi-discipline engineering teams on a variety of development projects. To be successful in this role, the individual should be proficient in project scheduling and budgeting, possess sufficient technical knowledge to accurately assess project progress, identify and manage issues, risks, opportunities, and scope changes, properly balance technical schedule and budget considerations when making architecture and design decisions and conducting trade analyses.
Typical Education & Experience
Typically a Bachelor's Degree and 10 years work experience or equivalent experience
Required Skills and Education
An active Secret Security clearance is required.
Demonstrated ability to lead a cross-functional engineering team that includes systems, mechanical, optical, electrical, and software disciplines.
Experience managing project scope (CDRLs/Requirements), schedule, budget, Risks, and deliverables.
Solid project performance management (using Microsoft Project as well as other applicable software) and reporting.
Superior communication skills with ability to act as the liaison between engineering and other functions including Program Management, manufacturing, finance, operations, customer support, etc.
Strong management skills to motivate teams to deliver outstanding results in all aspects of product development, manufacturing, and product delivery.
Preferred Skills and Education
Earn Value experience in determining schedule and cost performance.
Solid technical process development background in Lasers, EO-IR imagers, Gimbals designs.
Positive approach to new ideas and ability to think outside the box".
Product development leadership experience in defense-related products.
