The Ultra Assurance function is responsible for ensuring the effectiveness and fulfilment of Ultra's Quality Policy, which is to comply fully in the conduct of the Company's business with all applicable regulatory and customer required specifications, and to maintain an effective Quality Management System, working in partnership with the Operations and Engineering teams to ensure that products and processes conform to applicable standards and specifications, and the incidence and costs of quality non-conformances are constantly monitored and improved, while maintaining the highest practicable standards of manufacturing productivity and efficiency.

The Quality System Management function in Ultra ensures that the business follows a set of policies and procedures required for planning and production to maintain compliance with accredited or certified systems.

The role holder manages professionals in a defined area of Ultra. Develops plans for their team to ensure optimum use of time and resources. Ensures team performance is aligned and contributes to the overall plans of their area.

Job Description:



  • Key management position required for oversight of quality management of business unit

  • Responsible for the planning, development, implementation, and management of a comprehensive, effective assurance program using the ISO 9000 principles

  • Development of standardized formats for all program documentation including metrics and workflows

  • Develop, implement, review and update the Quality Policy, Quality Manual, Quality Objectives, Operating Procedures and supporting high-level workflows

  • Develop and oversee process for generation of product and process quality

  • Direct and oversee the development of quality documentation such as QMS and Management Review

  • Develop and implement effective standard and consistent metrics and dashboards across the organization that will assist managers in providing quality products to customers

  • Utilize quality and safety tools to provide recommendations for continuous process improvement to program managers and to leadership

  • Routinely review key performance indicators and participate in the review of corrective/preventative actions

  • Develop and oversee implementation of quality training for personnel

  • Establish a customer satisfaction process and support customer evaluation programs

  • Document and maintain records of the accomplishment of quality-related events

  • Ensure compliance with applicable federal and local laws, regulations, and standards including, but not limited to DOD, DOSI, OSHA, FAA, ISO, FAR, CAS, GAGAS and ANSI

  • Lead, manage, mentor, develop and support the quality team

  • Employ in-depth knowledge of Continuous Process Improvement (CPI), Six Sigma and/or Lean Six Sigma control methods

  • Investigate and implement innovative tradecraft, methods, and tools to improve strategic foresight; serve as primary Quality advocate and champion for future program/proposal endeavors; and utilize innovative techniques to pursue those opportunities


Required Skills:



  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical, scientific or managerial field

  • 10+ years of experience

  • Ability to obtain a US Government security clearance. Security clearances are granted to U.S. citizens


Desired Skills:



  • Quality certification in one of the following disciplines:



  1. Certified Quality Auditor (CQA)

  2. Certified Quality Engineer (CQE)

  3. Certified Quality Manager (CQM)

  4. Certification as a Six Sigma Black Belt



  • Experience in quality assurance/quality control

  • Experience designing, implementing and managing internal audits

  • ISO-9001 experience

  • Ability to guide, direct, supervise and manage staff through the evaluation of performance, collaboration of goals and provision of feedback and guidance for personal and professional growth

  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing to various levels of management

  • Completion of certified/registered Internal Quality Auditor course and/or Graduate of Quality Control Management Course

  • Certification, training and/or familiarity in various quality methodologies, such as the following: ISO 9000, Six Sigma, Project Management, Change Management, Baldridge Criteria, Total Quality Management, CMMI, Lean Enterprise, ISO 14001, ISO 50001, Control Self Assessments and/or Theory of Constraints

  • A high degree of knowledge of military, aerospace, defense and/or Department of State quality practices

  • Familiarity with Government/DoD standards

  • Familiar with DCMA and its quality assurance program
