Assistance with a wide range of support and advice to the Private Bank, including advising on legal and regulatory issues concerning the day-to-day operation of the Private Bank, and drafting and advising on client documentation.
Advising the business on all legal and regulatory aspects of Credit including securities based lending, mortgages and financing solutions for the purchase of aircraft, to a regional client base, including individuals, personal holding companies, trusts, charities and partnerships.
Advising on standard terms and conditions for a wide range of lending products, structuring and execution of non-standard transactions, which may include derivative products.
Advising on legal and regulatory developments, including consumer legislation and jurisdictional reviews.
Advising on the development of policies, procedures and controls for the Credit business.
Work closely with line of business and other control functions (Compliance, Supervision and Risk) as well as external service providers
Providing legal and regulatory advice with respect to new business initiatives, new products and platform arrangements; assisting with policy/ procedures development
Working closely with business and the project team on various business projects; working closely with control functions on various risk and regulatory issues
Coordination with local counsel in various jurisdictions on legal and regulatory issues for lending transactions andfor the private banking business generally
Coordination with and assistance to the legal teams in other parts of J.P. Morgan, especially on corporate projects
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong drafting, negotiation and legal analytical skills.
Qualified lawyer in a common law jurisdiction (Hong Kong, Singapore or England and Wales) with experience gained at a top tier law firm or financial institution.
Experience with banking and lending transactions required; experience in regulatory matters preferred.
Knowledge of the wealth management industry, cross border licensing and marketing regimes applicable to private banking products and services would be an advantage.
Experience in transactional workflow and ability to deal with tight deadlines
A motivated self-starter able to handle multiple matters/projects simultaneously
Ability to communicate well and work in a cross-functional team to achieve common goals
