Reporting to the Chief Development Officer and with a dotted line to the Executive Director of Perkins International, the Senior Development Director is responsible for the development and strategic management of a portfolio of major donors, major donor prospects and companies affiliated with those individuals, with a focus on donors interested in funding Perkins’ international programs. This includes growing a portfolio of 100 major donors and prospects and securing five- and six-figure gifts in support of Perkins International strategic priorities. The Senior Development Director will coordinate with other senior directors in Development to strengthen Perkins’ overall fundraising program, for both short and long-term revenue growth.

Responsibilities include:

Working collaboratively with senior Development leaders and the Executive Director of Perkins International, create and implement a strategic plan for identifying and cultivating new high net worth individual donors, with a focus on those interested in Perkins’ international programs. Priority Perkins International program areas include India and Mexico.

Take the lead in exploring and identifying new donor leads, building new relationships, and soliciting leadership level gifts, with a focus on donors and prospects in New England and in New York City.

Actively manage a portfolio comprised of up to 100 major donors, major donor prospects, and companies affiliated with individual prospects. Work closely with Perkins Trustees, Corporators and senior Perkins leadership in identifying, cultivating and soliciting individuals and affiliated companies.

Secure one-on-one, in person donor meetings and solicitations to establish or strengthen donor relationships for long term support.

Solicit and secure gifts at the major level ($10,000+), and at the leadership level ($100,000+) including multi-year gifts.

Work as part of a cross department team (Fundraising/Marketing/Perkins International) to identify the most compelling Perkins International stories that both demonstrate PI’s impact and inspire prospects and donors.

Consistently deliver an innovative, creative and exceptional donor experience. Ensure that all major donor prospects and major donors are well-informed, acknowledged in meaningful ways and appreciated in an appropriate manner throughout the year. Identify opportunities for companies of prospects to engage with Perkins through on-site presentations, volunteering, employee fundraising drives, other strategies that align with corporate priorities.

Ensure proper and timely recognition of donors and ongoing stewardship. With support from the Donor Operations team, maintain accurate records and donor information in the Raiser’s Edge database.

As appropriate, accompany major donors on at least one international trip to Perkins programs annually.

Work closely with senior individual giving and institutional giving directors to insure coordination of efforts.

Perform other related duties and task as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university; six to eight years of experience in fundraising and major gifts development, with progressive responsibility and evidence of leadership experience. Ability and willingness to travel.

Preference will be given to candidates with:

Knowledge of donor databases with a preference for experience with Raiser’s Edge software.
