As a Lumen Sr Director Accounting, you will support the Controller's organization with its global strategic vision and management of various process improvement and transformation initiatives in the accounting and reporting organization, interfacing with the SVP/Controller and the Leadership and Executive team.  Work with global and regional peers to identify opportunities for process improvement, including transformation which may include the use of artificial intelligence or Six Sigma methodology to optimize recurring functions and minimize financial reporting risks.  Collaborate with peers and other business partners to monitor the effectiveness of internal controls in the context of current-state processes and partner to identify opportunities for improving the effectiveness of those controls, ensuring global financial data integrity and compliance with corporate processes in more efficient and cost-effective manners.


The Main Responsibilities


Drive quality aligned with the strategic vision of the Controller's organization through continuous process improvement and transformation efforts

Provide management of the process improvement portfolio globally utilizing a strong background in accounting and auditing along with business and finance acumen

Coordinate with others in the Controller's organization or more broadly within the Company on the intake processes, scope, prioritization, execution, control and results of process optimization initiatives

Lead multiple internal cross-functional teams and initiatives to ensure the effective delivery of all project and departmental milestones. Work proactively with business partners throughout the organization to resolve critical issues in a timely manner

Responsible for working with continuous improvement teams to design and implement a consistent and effective process optimization framework to achieve program objectives on time, on budget and realizing expected results

Provide global visibility of all ongoing and proposed improvement projects to the Controller's leadership team and the global process owner to ensure that the goals, scope, and initiatives in the program are aligned with the strategic direction

Establish and maintain quality metrics to optimize efficiency and develop reporting to measure quality and drive improvements in the accounting and reporting organization

Partner with regional peers to develop and implement consistent processes which can be consumed by all regions leveraging technology, reporting or other automation tools

 


What We Look For in a Candidate


Degree in Accounting and CPA

Extensive background in public accounting along with a history or progression within corporate and/or technical accounting functions

Demonstrates a high degree of technical accounting knowledge and an ability to understand transaction flows through multiple systems

Knowledge of approaches to re-engineering accounting systems and processes, with strong problem-solving, project management and interpersonal skills

Team player with ability to collaborate with numerous stakeholders

Detail orientated, organized and professional

Strong verbal and written communication skills to demonstrate a strong executive presence and report concisely to senior management

Focus on process improvements with a track record of success

Lean/Six-Sigma certified or willing to obtain such certifications as part of the objectives to drive consistent process improvement

Experience with audit, internal-audit or quality assurance is required
