Position reports to the Chief of Staff and works jointly with the Clinical Enterprise triad leadership team- Chief and Associate Chief, Clinical Enterprise and Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) on the development, implementation, and evaluation of various, complex initiatives.

The primary function of this role includes:

Proactively identifies issues that could impact successful execution of the Clinical Enterprise triad leadership’s (Chief, Associate Chief and CNO) commitments by elevating those issues and framing/positioning ideas to resolve the problem and/or mitigate the risk.

Coordinates and manages a variety of projects and activities related to strategic and operational aspects of the Health System in collaboration with the project management office (PMO).

Incumbent provides project coordination and support for strategic Health System goals in relation to the Strategic Quality Plan and mission across Inova Health System.

Represents the office of the Clinical Enterprise in communications throughout and external to Inova Health System. 

Essential Job Functions

Responsible for the preparation and coordination of “critical path” the Clinical Enterprise triad leadership (Chief, Associate Chief and CNO) meetings. The Clinical Enterprise Director is accountable to ensure that the meeting objectives are realistic, that preparation is appropriate and that the Clinical Enterprise team (Chief, Associate Chief, and CNO) is well prepared.

Ensure major items are recorded for follow-up and that those assigned are accountable.

Assists the Clinical Enterprise through coordination of projects and activities related to strategic and operational aspects of the Health System. This responsibility primarily focuses on ensuring alignment among the often diverse stakeholder and when such alignment is absent, sharing this fact with the Clinical Enterprise triad leadership (Chief, Associate Chief and CNO) and recommending mitigating approaches. 

Proactively identifies issues that could impact successful execution of the Clinical Enterprise triad leadership’s (Chief, Associate Chief and CNO) commitments. Responsibility involves elevating those issues about which the Clinical Enterprise triad leadership (Chief, Associate Chief and CNO) should be aware and framing/positioning ideas to resolve the problem/mitigate the risk.

Drafts correspondence, develops and delivers formal presentations, and prepares executive reports with and on behalf of the Clinical Enterprise triad leadership (Chief, Associate Chief and CNO)

Prepares the Clinical Enterprise triad leadership (Chief, Associate Chief and CNO)

for external engagements.

Leads projects and assignments on an as-needed basis and as directed by the Clinical Enterprise triad leadership (Chief, Associate Chief and CNO) 

Manages the budget and operations for the clinical enterprise administrative department.

Participates in senior leadership meetings as determined by the Clinical Enterprise triad leadership (Chief, Associate Chief and CNO).Interfaces with the Executive Management Team on behalf of the Clinical Enterprise triad leadership (Chief, Associate Chief and CNO).

Interfaces Inova departments on behalf of the Clinical Enterprise triad leadership (Chief, Associate Chief and CNO) to resolve problems and ensure implementation of company initiatives.

As directed by the Inova Clinical Enterprise triad leadership (Chief, Associate Chief and CNO), serves as relationship or process manager for partnerships, mergers, and Acquisitions with strategically significant hospitals and physician practices.

Serves as a member of various health system and community committees.

Represents and speaks on behalf of the Clinical Enterprise triad leadership (Chief, Associate Chief and CNO) when the triad leadership is unavailable for internal and external audiences when appropriate.

Stays abreast of industry trends, organizational priorities, and external and internal forces that may affect the Clinical Enterprise triad leadership’s (Chief, Associate Chief and CNO) priorities and schedule. Makes adjustments as indicated.

Reviews contracts prior to presenting to the Clinical Enterprise triad leadership (Chief, Associate Chief and CNO) for signature

Engage extensively with operations teams across the organization to lead integration processes and transition plans in support of physician acquisitions/ business development opportunities

Other Job Functions

Represents the organization in civic and community organizations.

Perform other duties as designated by the Clinical Enterprise triad leadership (Chief, Associate Chief and CNO) and Chief of Staff

Employment Qualifications

Masters of Health Administration, Business Administration, or a related field required.

Completion of an Administrative Residency in healthcare preferred.

Expertise and experience in project management with ability to manage multiple processes and projects. 

Demonstrated excellent written, verbal communication and presentation skills.

Strong time management skills.

Strategic thinker who must be detail-oriented and have analytical problem-solving capabilities.

Ability to create effective relationships, influence and collaborate internally and externally at all organizational levels.

Proficient in Microsoft Office tools to include Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
