TE Connectivity’s Engineering Managers provide leadership for cross functional engineering teams. They work with senior management to define technical road maps aligned with market directions and communicate across other Business Units to share applicable technology. Our Engineering Managers leverage TE global technology to increase competitive position and increased value to our customers. They identify relevant technology trends and opportunities, develop relationships and partnerships with key customers, industry leaders and core suppliers, define and manage IP strategy, assess talent and implement development plans to assure succession planning and organization capability.
TE Connectivity is looking for an experienced and dynamic Engineering leader to join its Sensors team as the Sr. Director Engineering, Transportation Sensors, reporting to the CTO/VP Engineering.
The Sr. Director Engineering, Transportation Sensors will lead a global team of Engineers of Regional Leads and Technical staff to develop innovative solutions. This leader will build and lead a high-performing team of engineers located in North America, Europe, Shanghai, Japan, Korea, India and Mexico, and will have direct responsibility to drive strategic development and deployment of platforms that will enhance the product portfolio for the Sensors Business Unit.The Sr. Director Engineering, Transportation Sensors will anticipate new products, resolving complex technical issues/problems, and lead the development of highly engineered solutions for our broad customer base. The role will require extensive interaction with customers, partners and suppliers to create relationships with key engineering and executive decision makers and to gain insight into their next generation product requirements.
Execute the vision and strategy for Transportation Sensors Engineering organization, in alignment with business objectives.
Drive Engineering efficiency and functional excellence.
Customer interface and intimacy.
Lead a team responsible for the development of the Emerging Region talent – MX, EMEA, India, China to create and sustain a long-term high growth trajectory for the business.
Partner with the Project Management Office and Operations to ensure a smooth transition and launch of development projects into production as well as ongoing sustainment efforts.
Manage a successful integration of M&A activity and identify potential strategic partnerships.
Drive accountability in the organization to deliver results through TE’s LEAN and continuous improvement process (TEOA).
Drive cost reductions in sustaining production through engineering design changes, process redesign, materials, automation (including digital factory), and technology updates.
Meet with and develop long-term strategic relationships with key OEM customers.
Prepare and facilitate technical briefings and meetings, including tactical and strategic planning with other functional areas or upper management. Implement and manage approved engineering budget and monitor actual expenses to ensure they fall within budget.
Providing training, coaching, and mentorship to team members. Drive a culture of creativity, speed, efficiency, innovation and continuous learning in the organization.
BS Engineering required. Preferred discipline: Mechanical, Material Science, Electrical Engineering.Advanced Engineering Degree Preferred, MBA desirable.
15+ years minimum combined engineering experience.
Proven success of new Product Launches into the Automotive industry.
Strong Design for Six Sigma, lean principles, quality engineering practices and principles (DFSS certified, BB preferred).
Proven success in Engineering leadership and proven people leader with minimum 10 years in combined direct reporting or matrix reporting leadership.
Able to lead engineering excellence in the framework of a PMO driven, projectized environment.Able to attract and motivate top technical talent and skilled in people development.
Strong business acumen relative to project business case development and market analysis, capital management, P&L, and department budget management.
Global mind-set with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, strong influencing and motivational skills and the ability to build strong, credible relationships with multiple organization functions (inside and outside of TE).
Capability to work in a fasted paced, dynamic global environment with multiple changing priorities.
Fosters a culture of collaboration across the organization, including sales/marketing, product management and supply chain.
Clear, strategic thinker with the ability to execute on priorities and drive for results.
Exceptional written, verbal and presentation communication skills.
This position may require up to 50% travel both Domestic and International.
