Position Summary


The Senior Director of Development oversees all the core fundraising functions of the Leading Non-Profit / Social Enterprise Company (Archdiocese) including: major gift fundraising, parish-based fundraising (including parish campaigns and offertory), grants and foundation fundraising, planned giving, the Annual Catholic Appeal (ACA), Priest Retirement Fund Appeal (PRMAA), and Tax Credit Scholarships (TCS).


The Senior Director of Development must work with a variety of partners and constituents including: pastors, parish communities, school principals, donors, vendors, and the staff of the archdiocese.


 


Responsibilities


 Work in partnership with the Chief Development Officer (CDO) as a key public facing leader of the Department of Stewardship and Development.

Play a lead role in helping the Archdiocese achieve its overall fundraising goals

Set staff goals, monitor work, and evaluate results of major fundraising functions: major gifts, planned gifts, parish fundraising, grants, the Annual Catholic Appeal and donor communications.

Maintain an individual portfolio of major donors to solicit gifts in alignment in Archdiocesan priorities

Attract, develop, coach, and retain high-performing team members, empowering them to elevate their level of responsibility, span of control, and performance.

Work with other Stewardship and Development leaders to develop and maintain systems to establish and track goals, metrics, and progress.

Provide regular updates to the CDO and archdiocesan leadership on progress toward goals and key fundraising activity.

Actively participate in select donor meetings, vicariate and deanery meetings, and parish meetings as a key leader of the archdiocese.

Liaise with vendors to ensure Archdiocesan needs and objectives are being met.

Other responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements:

Minimum 5-7 years fundraising and management experience; additional marketing and communications experience preferred

BA/BS degree — preferably in communications, fundraising, nonprofit management, or equivalent professional experience

CFRE preferred

Demonstrated experience achieving fundraising results through a variety of mediums and across a wide breadth of development disciplines and functions: major gifts, annual funds, planned giving, donor communications and reporting, and special events

Proven track record of achieving fundraising results through a variety of mediums

Demonstrated leadership in a high-performing development office

Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, strong work ethic, enthusiasm, and confidence, and the ability to lead and work collaboratively

Must demonstrate understanding, respect, and support for Catholic Church teaching, mission, and values

Above average computer skills in software such as Microsoft Office, Raiser’s Edge, Portfolio

Ability to read, write and speak fluently in Spanish or Polish preferred
