Job Description


Seeking highly skilled and motivated analytical chemist to join our medicinal chemistry drug discovery team.The ideal candidates will be experienced in the use of LCMS, HPLC and SFC to purify and characterize small molecule compounds.Knowledge of NMR spectroscopy is a plus.


Qualifications


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 


•Perform high throughput compound library QC and purification using LCMS and the data processing software

•Perform sample preparation pre and post purification by using automated liquid handler robots

•Perform data analysis and prepare analysis report under supervision

•Develop, optimize, and improve small molecule purification workflow/processes

•Develop and optimize related chromatographic methods including LCMS and SFC.

•Responsible for routine maintenance and troubleshooting of chromatography and liquid handling instruments, contacting vendors for preventive maintenance and repair, bookkeeping of repair records

•Participation in group, project team and departmental research meetings

•Proper maintenance of laboratory notebooks in accordance with company policies and practices

•Compliance with safe laboratory practices and EH&S guidelines

•Contribute to the writing of technical documents, patents, scientific manuscripts, etc.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:


•No supervisory responsibilities


EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS: 


Education:


•BS in analytical chemistry or related discipline and a minimum of twelve years of drug discovery experience in the pharmaceutical industry; or,

•MS in analytical chemistry or related discipline and a minimum of ten years of drug discovery experience in the pharmaceutical industry; or,

•Ph.D. in analytical chemistry or related discipline with zero or more years of drug discovery experience in the pharmaceutical industry.  


Experience


•Experience with purification and characterization of small molecule compounds

•Experience using LCMS, UPLC and SFC in drug discovery setting

•Experience with automation on liquid handling processes

•Experience on analytical chemistry workflow management/maintenance in pharma labs


Knowledge/Skills:


Strong analytical chemistry skills

•Strong knowledge of small molecule purification workflows

•Efficient use of LC and SFC instruments 

•Efficient knowledge of automatic liquid handler/Robotics and related data processing software

•Solid knowledge of analytical chemistry in terms of small molecule separation and purification

•Good interpersonal skills, flexibility and works well within a team environment

•Excellent written and verbal communication skills


WORKING CONDITIONS:


•Environment: primarily working in laboratories or in office

•Exposures encountered, such as hazardous materials, extreme cold.
