BAE Systems is looking for a Systems Engineer to work on a multi-disciplinary team in an Agile, fast-paced development environment. The qualified candidate will support the development and implementation of an extensible software framework for integration of tools capable of mission data processing in a Cloud environment.
Assigned tasks may include the development of Concepts of Operations (CONOPS) and user stories, backlog prioritization and management, technical documentation, sprint planning, customer engagement and close interaction with software and system test engineers on the team to achieve program objectives.
The SE will: coordinate with the Lead SE and program applications to accomplish program work efforts coordination, documentation of efforts in the Integration Guide and CDRLs, and overall applications integration on the Kirin program; coordinate TEMs and meeting with associate program applications developers to coordinate integration; and support customer meeting and briefings as requested by the Chief Engineer.
Position may require occasional business travel to customer locations in support of product demonstrations and customer meetings.
Typical Education & Experience
Typically a Bachelor's Degree and 6 years work experience or equivalent experience
Required Skills and Education
Bachelor of Science degree in engineering/technical discipline, and 5+ year(s) related experience or equivalent experience, training and/or certifications
Proficient in requirements identification, analysis, documentation, and tracking
Proficient analyzing customer needs, and identifying user stories and technical tasks to achieve various Agile objectives and iterative development schedules
Proficient in statistical analysis methods and tools
Experience with system integration and test on a UNIX or Linux platform
Team player with a proactive attitude and the ability to be productive in a dynamic/collaborative environment
Motivated self-starter with good problem solving skills, judgment, and analytical capability
Ability to develop improved methods to increase program efficiency
Demonstrated leadership skills (supervisory experience, building teams, mentoring, building customer relationships)
Ability to negotiate effectively with higher level managers, functional managers, customers, industry partners, and teammates
Strong oral and written communications skills
Good planning and organizational skills
2+ years of system architecture experience with enterprise software systems
Preferred Skills and Education
Experience with Agile management tools (e.g., Jira, etc.)
Experience with UML/SysML modeling tools such as Enterprise Architect, System Architect, etc.
Experience with configuration management tools (e.g. Subversion, Git, etc.)
IC3 experience preferred
Experience with DevOps tools and processes
Experience with Cloud computing environments ( e.g., AWS, Azure)
Knowledge of open, standards-based architectures, interfaces and geospatial data
Working knowledge of ITW/AA operations and certifications
Familiarity with DoDAF
International Council on Systems Engineering (INCOSE) certification (e.g., ASEP, CSEP, ESEP)
