Job Purpose: 

The Sr. Director Optical Business Development will be prime to develop our Optical business delivering business growth in line with our strategic plans over the next 3yrs.As prime, the candidate will be responsible to create sales opportunities on a specific list of targeted accounts and work with the relevant teams to assess the evolution of the markets, customers and technologies to ensure we are continuously adjusting our sales strategy and target customers.  

Nature Of Duties:

Develop account sales strategies and plans for key targeted customers

  • Understand customer portfolio, competitive positioning,technology/product roadmaps as well as their supply chain / manufacturing strategy

  • Understand the competitive landscape and customers sourcing strategy

  • Develop account sales strategy/plan based on the information to enable a focused customer approach

  • Develop sales presentation to targeted audience and problem they need to solve

  • Set up meetings with right decision makers/influencers at the customer

Value Creation: Develop proactive proposals and engagement models – look at creative models “generate” sales interest based on technology and market evolution

  • Understand the customer needs and develop solutions/proposals that solve the customer problems

Hunt key customer TGTs within the segmentsnot currently in Sanmina portfolio (per the agreed PSM)

Pull together complete proposals for the customers

  • Be able to articulate the Sanmina Value Proposition and market differentiation to prospective customers

  • Ability to articulate a comprehensive solution development

Work with sites and/or quote team to build up quote/pricing models tying in T&C

Negotiate contracts including T&C aligned to the quote modeling and scope of service offering – be able to cover Design, NPI and Manufacturing

Sustain the account once landed

  • Support the customer relationship through the lifecycle

  • Create and foster relationships at key customers

  • Develop relationship maps understanding “who’s who” at the customer

  • Engage direct relationships with the key stakeholders at the customer

  • (VP and above – across various groups – procurement, design, Product owners)

  • Ensure appropriate engagements with right Sanmina Executives

  • Nurture and grow the accounts – specifically around larger engagements

Group Selling – as necessary, identify the need to pull into the customer dialog the correct SMEs from Operations, Design, Materials,  etc…. to move the dialog with the customer forward.

Education And Experience: 

•12-15 years of related experience

•Previous experience in a manufacturing plant

•Ability to work with others in a demanding environment

•Works as a team player bringing both the customer input as well as representing SANM manufacturing facilities

•Possess the business savvy necessary to drives both SANM and the Customer to improve in areas need
