The successful candidate will analysis and technical execution of engineering drawing changes necessary to ensure continuity of supply of assigned Electrical products manufactured in multiple sites across Aerospace. Utilizing engineering problem solving technical skill, the candidate will quantify and prioritize with PSE/AME engineers the factors driving supply, yield and quality issues. In addition, the candidate will coordinate with PSE Technical Managers and Product or Project Engineers, to develop design solutions to address key factors and introduce product and process improvement actions that have direct positive impact on factory yield, quality and overall delivery performance.
This position is located at the Mexicali Research & Technology Center with the Design Engineering group.
Responsible for the design of aircraft components for commercial and military applications
Creates and/or dispositions Engineering Change Notices as necessary for IPDS Phase 6 products in support of ISC.
Integrates requirements from various disciplines such as: structures, materials, installations, manufacturing, assembly and others, to create an effective design that exceeds customer’s expectations
Documents the final design in a written report and creates and releases solid models and 2-D drawings using CATIA V5, NX and Pro-E
Conducts preliminary design analysis using analysis packages such as ANSYS to quickly evaluate proposed design concepts
Creates and/or dispositions Engineering Change Notices as necessary.
Participates on teams identifying and resolving design problems of performance, strength, weight, material selection and finishes
Identifies and incorporates best practices for product design
Responsible for the electrical design program schedule and accurate and timely reporting of the same to management
The successful candidate will understand and apply risk management practices to development and production/field support programs and demonstrate an active commitment to process improvement
YOU MUST HAVE
BS degree in Electrical or Aerospace Engineering, with a minimum of 5-8 years design experience
Proficiency with CAD tools such as NX, Pro-E, CATIA V
Knowledge of ASME Y14.5M Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T)
Ability to successfully work in and promote a team environment
Communicates effectively in Spanish and English (oral & written)
Strong technical, analytical, organizational, problem solving, and interpersonal skills
Schedule management skills — manage tasks to meet schedule
Works with self-direction, takes initiative, exercises sound judgment, discretion, and capable of complex decision. making in a dynamic work environment
Senior GDTP certification
Ability to perform axial and radial tolerance analysis is a plus
Deep understanding of electrical engineering standards and specifications.
Experience with aircraft components and/or large castings would also be a plus
Experience with manufacturing processes such as but not limited forging, welding and machining
Experience with Product Lifecycle Management software is a plus
DFSS Green Belt Certified
