Job Description

We are seeking an experienced, creative and motivated Senior Research Associate to join our growing team in Emeryville.In this role, you will contribute to the company’s efforts to develop next-generation cell therapies in solid tumor malignancies.The successful candidate will have a strong molecular biology, cell biology and/or immunology background and will be expected to work in a collaborative cross-functional team environment, perform experiments, organize and analyze results, communicate effectively and present findings in team meetings.


Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:


Assist in the design and construction of viral vectors encoding synthetic receptors.

Use viral based strategies for genetic modification of T cells using next generation chimeric antigen receptors (CARs).

Culture and characterize genetically modified human T cells; including vector RNA characterization and quantitation by qRT-PCR and receptor protein processing by Western blotting and other in vitro assays as required.

Plan and execute in vitro functional assays with T cells according to project goals and timelines.

Effectively communicate plans and results in both oral and written form.

Ability to work in a highly dynamic collaborative team environment.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience:


BS or MS degree in Molecular Biology/Immunology/Cell Biology

2-5+ years Industry/academic experience in Immunology/Cell Biology, preferablyImmunotherapy.

Experience with vector construction techniques such as proficiency with SnapGene for vector design.

Experience with multi-color flow cytometry and data analysis (FACSDiva, FlowJo) required.

Experience with primary T cell-based assays preferred.

Excellent mammalian cell/tissue culture and sterile technique required.

Strong organizational skills and record keeping.

Self-motivated and willing to accept temporary responsibilities outside of initial job description.

Comfortable in a fast-paced environment and able to adjust workload based upon changing priorities.

Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills are essential in this collaborative work environment
