We are an executive agency of Her Majesty’s Revenue & Customs (HMRC), the size of a FTSE 300 business. We consist of 3,500 talented people, making up the public sector’s property valuation experts and advisers.
What we do is vital - not least because we’re helping to secure more than £50 billion of local government taxation to fund essential public services.

• Two million commercial properties are valued for Business Rates, underpinning around £26bn of revenue collected by local authorities in England and Wales.
• 25 million domestic properties given valuations for deciding council tax bands enabling the collection of approximately £27 bn in Council Tax for local authorities across England and Wales.
• Right to buy determining value for this initiative in England and Wales. We also provide statutory valuations to support HMRC and DWP with valuations to support the administration of benefits. We determine Local Housing Allowance rates.

This pivotal post reports directly to the Chief Strategy and Transformation Officer with a broad set of accountabilities that will cover aspects of strategy, transformation and programme delivery.
Whilst exact responsibilities may be fitted to the
candidate, the Director will lead areas of work including developing the VOA’s medium-term organisational strategy, translating it into a deliverable set of plans and shaping the transformation portfolio of programmes and
